Steven McBee Jr. is taking accountability following a highly publicized breakup and controversy involving his now-ex, Allie Eklund.
“The McBee Dynasty” star shared a lengthy statement on Wednesday, April 29, addressing his reaction after accusing Eklund of cheating during the Stagecoach Music Festival.
McBee’s Lengthy Statement
“Early Monday morning, I was made aware of an incident involving someone I love deeply and I reacted out of absolute hurt and betrayal,” McBee wrote. “While there are other videos and details I will not be sharing out of respect, this context is not an excuse. What followed is my responsibility alone.”
He went on to directly acknowledge the tone of his messages, writing, “The texts I sent were cruel and degrading. No level of personal hurt and betrayal justifies the language I used, and I am ashamed of those messages. To anyone who has been on the receiving end of such words, I am truly sorry. I recognize that the criticism I am receiving is fair, and I am listening.”
While McBee said he was “absolutely devastated” by what he believed to be Eklund’s actions, he made it clear that his response crossed a line.
“Taking those frustrations and pain out on her with cruel and degrading words was wrong,” he added, emphasizing that he will not share additional details about the situation and is instead focusing on his own behavior.
The reality star also revealed he has been actively working on himself.
“I have been in therapy to manage my emotions during high-intensity moments, and I am now taking advanced steps to ensure I react better when faced with adversity,” he shared. “I have personal issues to address, and it was unfair to take them out on someone I love in a heated moment of shock and betrayal.”
McBee framed the experience as part of a broader effort toward growth, writing, “Breaking a familial cycle of bad habits, patterns and history starts with one person deciding to make a change… and I promise you with everything inside of me I plan on doing just that.”
He concluded his statement with a wider apology: “I also want to apologize to anyone I have disrespected or spoken to harshly in business, friendships, or past relationships. This has never been my intent, and I am committed to doing the work to be a better person. I am not asking for sympathy, but I am grateful to anyone willing to give me the chance to grow. Time to get to work.”
The Incident Began After Stagecoach
The drama began when McBee publicly accused Eklund of being unfaithful during Stagecoach, alleging he received messages and video footage of her interacting with another man.
“I just know there was hand holding, grinding, dancing, drunken stupor at an afterparty,” he claimed at the time.
Eklund, however, pushed back against those claims in her own statement, expressing disappointment in how the situation unfolded.
“This is really sad to see and I’m genuinely at a loss for words,” she said, adding that sharing the accusations publicly before a private conversation was “extremely disheartening and extremely unfair.”
She also addressed her decision not to respond immediately, explaining, “I chose not to respond to him immediately because he has a history of verbally abusing me while he’s in a heightened emotional state and I felt it was more appropriate to have a private, level headed conversation once emotions had settled.”
As both sides speak out, the situation continues to unfold—but McBee’s latest statement signals a shift toward accountability and personal reflection in the wake of the breakup.
