Bravo star West Wilson suffered the unexpected loss of his grandmother Gayle R. Wilson after she was tragically killed on April 21, TMZ reported.
According to TMZ, West’s cousin Dakota Sweeney of Carrollton, Missouri, was arrested on April 22 after police say he shot West’s grandmother — just one day before the “Summer House” season 10 reunion was filmed.
When Carroll County law enforcement arrived at the scene, 75-year-old Gayle was dead, TMZ reported.
West Wilson’s Grandmother Passes Away
According to TMZ, a witness told authorities that West’s cousin quietly sat in the same room with their grandmother for 30 minutes before he drew a handgun. The witness also told police that Dakota and Gayle had an argument earlier that day about doing chores around the house, the outlet reported.
When Dakota was arrested at the scene and brought in for questioning, he had a holster on him, TMZ reported. Dakota has since been charged with first-degree murder.
Gayle was West’s grandmother on the paternal side, as she was his dad Bruce’s mother. In relation to West’s cousin, their grandmother was the mom of Dakota’s mother.
News of Gayle’s tragic death comes at the height of West and Amanda Batula‘s “Summer House” scandal. Not only has West endured the wrath of Bravo fans — and Ciara Miller stans — but he is also now mourning the death of his grandmother and its devastating circumstances.
West Wilson’s Damage Control
West has not yet addressed his grandmother’s passing with the public. He has, however, been on damage control to mend his former friendships with his “Summer House” costars. After he and Amanda shared their joint statement regarding their relationship ahead of the season 10 reunion taping, West broke his silence on their earth-shattering romance during an episode of his and Sophie Cunningham’s “Show Me Something” podcast.
It would be the day after West broke his silence on April 20 about his feelings for Amanda that his grandmother was shot and killed.
During his podcast with his co-host, West shared that he and Amanda only began their relationship after the latter and her ex Kyle Cooke revealed they would be separating on January 19. West claimed that he and Amanda began dating after she and Kyle decided to end their four-year marriage, citing “no overlap” between Amanda’s relationships with him and Kyle.
On April 27, Bravo star Lindsay Hubbard joined “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” where she and “Summer House” costar Bailey Taylor discussed having an inclination that West and Amanda did forge a romantic relationship before she and Kyle announced their divorce.
During which, Bailey told Andy that she saw Amanda and Kyle “heavily kissing” in late February — noting how odd it seemed after the former couple had already announced their split. According to Bailey, she turned to West, who was with her and their group during the makeout sesh, to address the unusual scene. West, however, told Bailey, “Let them do their thing.”
The “Summer House” reunion will air on Bravo on May 26 at 8/7c.
