Tom Schwartz Reveals to Lala Kent the ‘Insane’ Amount of Money He Invested in Schwartz and Sandy’s

Tom Schwartz joined Lala Kent on her “Untraditionally Lala” podcast for a candid conversation about business setbacks, past regrets, and personal growth.

Tom Schwartz Lost Up to $700,000 in Schwartz & Sandy’s

When Kent asked Schwartz how much he invested in Schwartz & Sandy’s, he didn’t hold back.

“I probably lost 600, 700 grand,” Schwartz said. “Which is insane. I don’t know, 600 grand, maybe.”

The now-closed Los Angeles cocktail lounge and restaurant opened in 2022 and became a key part of his and Tom Sandoval’s storyline on “Vanderpump Rules.” However, amid the fallout from Sandoval’s affair scandal, the business struggled and ultimately shut down after just two years. The closure not only strained Schwartz’s finances but also contributed to the breakdown of his longtime friendship with Sandoval.

During the podcast, Kent also asked about Jo Wenberg, who previously accused Schwartz of hiding their relationship on the show.

“I haven’t talked to her,” Schwartz admitted. “[We’re] far apart, but there’s no bad blood. I wish nothing but the best for her, but I kept her blocked for some private reasons and stuff. But no, I honestly, if she hears this, I’m always rooting for her. I hope she’s doing well.”

Schwartz then reflected on his ex-wife Katie Maloney, with whom he’s maintained a respectful post-divorce relationship.

“Me and Katie are great. I don’t see her that much, but she’s so sweet,” he shared. “She’s so freaking sweet to me, always, and kind. [She] sends me funny texts sometimes. But, also, I’m respectful of our boundaries.”

Maloney and Schwartz began dating in 2011, years before “Vanderpump Rules” premiered, and their relationship became one of the show’s central storylines. After multiple ups and downs, they announced their split in March 2022 but have remained amicable.

Tom Schwartz Reflects on Controversial Past Behavior

Kent didn’t shy away from tough questions, reminding Schwartz of the infamous moment he threw a drink on Maloney during a heated argument on the show.

“[That was] the first and only time in my entire life I’ve done that,” Schwartz said. “I don’t know [why I did it]. I have no excuse for it. I think I lost my mind. It wasn’t like I threw it in her face. I just kind of threw it in her direction. That was like my lowest moment. I was just in such a bad place. I (expletive) lost my mind.”

He admitted that his hurtful actions linger with him: “When I’m mean to people, it haunts me.”

Kent quickly reminded him of another jab: calling her a “bootleg housewife.” Schwartz laughed and blamed it on the alcohol.

Fans can stream old seasons of “Vanderpump Rules” on Peacock.
