Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster brought a touch of Broadway magic to Maine with an unexpected return to the stage together. Portland Press Herald reported on August 4 that Jackman, 57, surprised the audience at Ogunquit Playhouse’s sold-out 2026 benefit gala on Monday, Aug. 3, joining Foster, 51, during her headlining concert. The appearance marked their first live concert performance together since they starred opposite each other in the Broadway revival of “The Music Man.”

Foster was midway through her exclusive concert when she invited Jackman to join her, turning the fundraiser into an impromptu reunion for the two Tony Award winners.
“In a surprise that brought the audience to their feet, Foster welcomed fellow Tony winner Hugh Jackman to the stage for an unforgettable duet,” the Ogunquit Playhouse said in a statement.
Foster shimmered in a yellow sequined gown for the performance. Jackman kept his look relaxed in a chestnut brown silk-linen suit worn over a navy shirt.
Their appearance drew an immediate standing ovation from the audience.
Couple Performs Songs From ‘The Greatest Showman’
Jackman and Foster opened their joint performance with “Doodlin’ Song” before moving into “A Million Dreams” from Jackman’s 2017 musical film “The Greatest Showman.”
The duet reunited the couple in the setting where their chemistry first captured Broadway audiences. Jackman and Foster starred as Professor Harold Hill and Marian Paroo in the acclaimed revival of “The Music Man,” which ran at New York’s Winter Garden Theatre from December 2021 through January 2023.
Although they have supported each other at concerts and theatrical events since going public with their romance, the Ogunquit gala marked their first shared live performance since the musical ended.
Gala Raises More Than $3 Million for Historic Theater
The sold-out benefit raised more than $3 million for the Ogunquit Playhouse Foundation and its Next Century Campaign, as per Broadway World.
The campaign will support the construction of a new state-of-the-art theater with expanded production facilities, improved accessibility and upgraded amenities for audiences.
Organizers said the project will preserve the history and character of the nearly century-old Playhouse while preparing it for future generations of performers and theatergoers.
The evening began with an outdoor cocktail reception before Foster’s concert. Guests later attended a celebratory dinner at Cliff House Maine.
Jackman and Foster’s Friendship Grew Into Romance
Jackman and Foster had known each other through Broadway circles for years before working together in “The Music Man.” They were first romantically linked in late 2024.
People reported that Jackman separated from Deborra-Lee Furness in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage.
Foster filed for divorce from screenwriter Ted Griffin in October 2024 after 10 years of marriage, as per Page Six.
Their relationship was confirmed in January 2025 when they were photographed holding hands while walking to dinner in Santa Monica, California, as per photos obtained by People.
The pair made their red carpet debut as a couple at the October 2025 Los Angeles premiere of Jackman’s film “Song Sung Blue.”
They later attended the 2026 Met Gala together and recently appeared at the New York premiere of “The Death of Robin Hood.”
