What do Katy Perry’s boyfriend, Justin Trudeau, and her ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, have in common? They both just made major real estate moves. While Trudeau dropped $3.1 million on a Mansion in Montreal, Bloom has decided to put “his longtime Malibu, Calif., home on the market for $12 million,” according to The Wall Street Journal.
“The circa-1970s house above El Matador State Beach was the actor’s primary home for more than a decade, Bloom said in an interview,” per WSJ. “He bought it with then-wife Miranda Kerr in 2011 for about $2.5 million, property records show. The Britain-born ‘Lord of the Rings’ actor is selling the four-bedroom house, he said, because he hasn’t lived there for several years and has moved further north in California, although he declined to specify where.”
Although his hestitation to sell the home resulted in him renting it out last, he eventually decided that he wasn’t likey to return to the residence himself. He explained, “It felt like it might be the right time to let it go.”
Check Out Orlando’s Stunning Malibu Home
Bloom’s Malibu home includes 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and 4,181 square feet.
“With resort-like atmosphere, landscaping, and amenities, exceptional privacy, and expansive ocean views, this Western Malibu residence is a year-round refuge,” according to the Compass listing held by Chris Cortazzo. “The open-plan layout invites easy indoor-outdoor living and entertaining in spacious surroundings accented by high, beamed ceilings, generous use of glass, and handsome wood and tile floors.”
When it comes to “the home’s main living areas” found off the foyer, “the kitchen [is] flanked on one side by a step-down family/media room, and on the other by a large living room,” which “has ocean views, a fireplace, and walls of glass on two sides with doors opening to the back and side yards.”
Beyond that, the listing notes that “[t]he family room, with mountain and ocean views, built-in sound system, and a band of clerestory windows, has a casual dining area and sliding glass doors opening onto the backyard.” That’s not to mention “an additional entertaining area complete with a wet bar,” while a “gym, a powder room, and a laundry room complete the main level.”
“The ocean-view kitchen is updated with top-quality appliances,” per the listing, and “extends to include a dining area that opens directly onto a covered deck where there is a table for al fresco dining.”
When it’s time to retire for the night, the listing explains that a “nearby stairway leads to a spacious sleeping loft with a wood plank-and-beam ceiling, and a second stairway leads to three additional bedrooms, including dual primary suites with ocean views, sliding glass doors to a wraparound, full-width view deck, luxurious closets, and large tiled bathrooms.”
If the residents want to spend time outside, they can indulge in one of the many exterior perks. That includes “a covered deck with a dining table and lounging area, a fire feature, an ocean-view pool and spa, a wet bar, a hot tub, a half-bathroom, and a barrel sauna and tub,” the listing points out. “There is also a coded-access flagstone and wood stairway leading to the beach.”
Bloom Embarked on an Incredibly Costly Renovation
GettyWhile the home, which is found in a gated Malibu community, was surely impressive when Bloom bought it, he took on “an extensive renovation that cost more than twice what he originally paid for the house,” according to WSJ.
“The residence was built around the 1970s. During Bloom’s ownership, a renovation ensued, with work including the creation of a more open plan living and kitchen area — and the addition of a pool outside overlooking the Pacific,” the New York Post explains. “The renovation also added custom finishes in addition to furniture, which can be included in the sale.”
Indeed, “the Malibu house has interiors by the artist and furniture designer Roy McMakin,” which brings an extra flair to the vibrant home.
