Zach Top is having a massively successful career in country music, playing shows around the U.S. and most recently, opening for country music legend George Strait. The “I Never Lie” singer took the stage during Strait’s first night performing at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas, on Friday, April 24.
However, it was a behind-the-scenes moment featuring Top that truly captured concertgoers’ attention. After his performance, Top was spotted dancing with his mother as they watched Strait perform his hit song, “Ocean Front Property.”

Top Performs With Two New Band Members
GettyAccording to American Songwriter, Top’s performance in Lubbock marked his first gig with two new bandmates. On April 24, Top’s longtime rhythm guitar player and harmony singer, Cheyenne Dalton Meyer, announced on Instagram that she was fired from the band, along with her husband, Jimmy Meyer, who was Top’s bass player.
“A little over a month ago, I was let go from my position with ZT. While this was unexpected, I want to thank all of you for following along with me on all of my adventures,” she began.
“I’ll miss all of the fun, playing great music, and meeting every one of you. I couldn’t have done this without all of your kindness and encouragement. You all built up my confidence, and I have transformed into who I am today because of you!” She continued. “I’m back home in Missouri now, and although I’m not sure what comes next, I’ll still be here posting my daily life. If you choose to stay around, I thank you! Who knows, maybe someday I’ll put out some of my own music for the world to hear.”
The outlet reported that Norbert McGettigan stepped in on bass, while Ryan Joseph took over the fiddle and mandolin, replacing the two outgoing bandmates.
Though Top has yet to respond to their firings, fans can still expect to see him on his upcoming “Cold Beer & Country Music Summer Tour ’26”, kicking off in June in Durant, Oklahoma.
