In a new Instagram Story posted around midnight on Christmas Eve 2025, Derek Hough has dropped a major clue about when Baby Hough might arrive. Derek and his wife, “Dancing With the Stars” troupe member Hayley Erbert, have been keeping fans updated all week as they celebrate the final stretch of the pregnancy before their first child makes its appearance.
Derek’s latest post seems to hint the baby might be coming soon than later. He shared an adorable video of himself twirling through a gentle slow dance with Hayley which he interestingly captioned, “Last dance as a duo.”
Fans Hold Their Breath for Baby Hough’s Arrival
A few hours before updating his Stories with the “last dance” post, Derek shared a beautiful photo standing in front of a glowing Christmas tree with Hayley. The photo shows their silhouettes as Derek sweetly cradles Hayley’s bump.
In another shot, the six-time “DWTS” champion cutely plants a kiss on his wife’s stomach.
“Last Christmas Eve. Just you and me. Before we become three,” he wrote.
Derek’s fellow reality TV star Rob Mariano, who won “Survivor” season 22, predicted a Christmas baby. He commented under the set of photos, “Today’s the day! Birthday twins!”
“Christmas baby loading,” agreed someone else.
Another follower wrote, “I am so checking my Instagram 5 times a day waiting to see the wee little Hough!”
Derek’s sister and longtime “DWTS” costar, Julianne Hough, showed love by leaving a heart emoji on the post. She says the impending arrival of her little niece or nephew is giving the former judge baby fever. In late November, Hough appeared on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” and said, “Okay, so I became an aunt at 11 years old because I have three older sisters and they have, you know, been having kids for a long time. But this is the first time, you know, my ovaries are screaming.” The dance pro went on, “I’m ready to be a mom. So to be at this stage of my life while he’s having a baby, I’m just seeing it through different eyes.”
Two days before the Christmas tree photos, Derek and Hayley took part in a popular ongoing social media trend by performing a playful dance montage to Starrkeisha’s “Baby Mama.”
Derek Hough Gets Celebrity Baby Advice
“I’m so grateful for all the guidance and well-wishes I’ve gotten from some of Hollywood’s biggest stars,” said Derek in a recent Extra segment. In the segment, Derek interviews Colin Farrell, who tells him, “You’ve got a great Christmas settled for you! The best thing at Christmas.”
He also got a shoutout from “The Pitt” star Noah Wyle, who told him, “Derek, rumor has is that you and your wife are expecting. So, in case you need an L&D bed, this is not it, go to a real doctor!” while playfully gesturing to an on-set gurney.
Kirsten Dunst, who shares two children with her husband, Jesse Plemons, had some practical advice for Derek about setting limits on screentime for his little one, saying, “Keep your kids away from YouTube Kids! That changed my kids when I took that away.” Dunst’s “Roofman” costar Tanning Tatum agreed, “Only use an iPad on a plane!”
