“Dancing with the Stars” is no easy glide across the ballroom. The competition demands long rehearsals, intense physical training, and, at times, a little blood, sweat, and tears. Dylan Efron revealed that he recently broke his nose during practice, but assured fans the injury will not keep him from performing.
The “Traitors” alum, 33, shared the update in an Instagram post on October 25, explaining that the mishap occurred while he and his pro partner, Daniella Karagach, were working on a new lift. “Broke my nose, but don’t need it to dance,” Dylan joked in his caption, alongside photos of himself in the emergency room with an ice pack pressed to his face.
Castmates Refused to Leave His Side
In a short video filmed from his hospital chair, he added, “We were trying a new move and I took an elbow right here. It made a really loud crack. Not how I wanted to end the rehearsal day, but we’ll be back dancing tomorrow.”
Dylan shared that Daniella, fellow pro Pasha Pashkov, and contestant Danielle Fishel stayed with him after the incident. “I’ll never forget the way Dani, Pasha, and Danielle WOULDN’T leave my side when it happened,” he wrote. “Warms my heart to have friends like them.”
Support poured in from other DWTS pros and celebrities as well. Val Chmerkovskiy commented, “Oh em gee.”
Mark Ballas added, “I hope you’re ok, brother. Sending you love.” Robert Irwin wrote, “What!!!!! Feel bette,r mate.” Emma Slater chimed in, “Hope you’re OK!”
Jan Ravnik wrote: “Feel better soon !!”
One friend playfully teased Daniella, writing, “Keep him in line @daniellakaragach.”
After receiving the outpour of love and support, Efron shared an update on Instagram and wrote: “Thank you for all the kind messages. I truly am okay.”
His Latest Performance Earned Praise

The injury came shortly after Dylan and Daniella delivered a strong Week 6 performance. Their Rumba to “I’m Not That Girl” earned a 32/40, with judges calling the connection “authentic” and praising Dylan’s progress and presence on the dance floor.
Carrie Ann Inaba highlighted the pair’s chemistry, calling their partnership “magic.”
Dylan is scheduled to return for Halloween Week with a Viennese Waltz set to “Can’t Help Falling in Love (DARK)” by Tommee Profitt and Brooke. His journey has also included a touching family moment. For Dedication Week, Dylan danced alongside his younger sister, Olivia, to “Rewrite the Stars” from The Greatest Showman, originally performed by his brother Zac Efron and Zendaya.
Zac has not appeared in the ballroom yet, but Dylan said his brother is cheering him on from behind the scenes. “He’s supporting me every day,” Dylan told Extra after the Wicked Night performance.
Dancing with the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
