Kaitlyn Bristowe won season 29 of “Dancing With the Stars,” but her victory wasn’t without some painful injuries. She said that she is “still suffering” today, five years later. Was the win worth the pain?
Kaitlyn Bristowe Opens Up About ‘DWTS’ Injuries
During an appearance on the September 10 episode of Tori Spelling’s “misSPELLING” podcast, the former “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” alum shared her “Dancing With the Stars” experience.
Bristowe shared a simple piece of advice based on what she went through. “I just would have said, don’t injure yourself. That was like my main focus was to stop getting injured all the time,” she said.
The reality star won the season with dance pro partner Artem Chigvintsev, but revealed that the injuries from that time are still with her.
Spelling, who was eliminated first on “DWTS” season 33, asked, “I mean, you won, so worth the injuries or no?”
Bristowe confirmed that, yes, winning was worth the pain.
Bristowe shared, “I’m still suffering years later from cracked ribs and pulling a muscle that was under my ribs, and my tendonitis will flare up every time I wear heels now. But I’m like, ‘I’ll do it again.'”
“It’s crazy because one of my girlfriends [Hannah Brown] had won it from the season before,” Bristowe noted. “I was like, ‘Why did you not prepare me?’ And she was like, ‘I don’t think people should prepare them, because then they won’t do it.'”
She added, “It would be scary to know how much work and injury you go through to get to the end. Like, it’s crazy [to get to the end].”
Kaitlyn Bristowe Pushed Through the Pain on ‘DWTS’
In a September 2020 interview with E! News, following her performance on “DWTS,” Bristowe talked about an ankle injury she suffered. “It does hurt. It’s okay right now, but I’m just so glad we got to do the dance,” she said.
She continued, “That dance meant so much to me, so I’m just over the moon that we got to perform it. So I feel really happy right now.”
Ahead of her season, Bristowe told E! News what she was most looking forward to.
“Honestly, the thought of being in a dance studio for hours on end just brings so much happiness to my soul,” Bristowe said. “I’ve loved and been so passionate about dance since I was three years old, and it’s really what I wanted to do as a career. I really feel like I gave up on my dream at 25. Now, I just feel like this is like my second chance to just do something I love and succeed in it.”
