Mark Ballas’ Beloved Mom Taken to Hospital over Fears She Had a ‘Cracked Skull’

Fans were concerned for beloved “Strictly Come Dancing” judge Shirley Ballas, who is also the mother of “Dancing with the Stars” pro Mark Ballas, after it was reported that she had fallen backward and hit her head on a glass table. Thankfully, she has since shared a positive update about her health.

Shirley Ballas Shares Update After Her Fall

Shirley was taken to the hospital to have a brain scan to assess the damage and ensure that there was no skull fracture. She shared an update with fans on January 17 on her Instagram Stories, The Mirror reports. In a message, she wrote, “Thank you to all who reached out to see how I’m doing. Scary fall backwards hitting my head on the glass dressing table :(. Trip to hospital to get a brain scan.”

She continued, “Fortunately for me no cracked skull. I’ll rest a few days to heel my neck and back.”

In the article’s comments, fans shared their concern for Shirley and their relief that she was on the mend. “Ouch. I’ve done the same, but with a metal table. Glad to hear no serious damage has been done and I hope Shirley is on the mend soon,” a comment reads. “Glad to hear she is OK. Balance becomes an ever more difficult thing as you become older,” another fan shared.

Shirley Ballas Reveals She’s in Pain

Shirley updated fans again on Instagram Stories, saying she was in pain and that “everything hurts,” Express reports.

“Just trying to get everything sorted and grateful for the nurses the doctors and my friends who helped me with everything, so feeling in my head much better today and grateful and I need to rest,” she shared. “All those things that perhaps one doesn’t do because we’re always running around and never sit on a stool with a cushion.”

She continued, “So I’m gonna send a little demonstration of what exactly happened. We need to be careful. There was a little cushion on there and I slipped off it. Anyway, take care. Love you.” The scariest thing about Shirley’s injury is how it was such a freak accident, and her description of what happened sounds like it can easily happen to anyone.

Shirley also informed fans that although she needed to “take it easy” for the next 72 hours, she would be alright. However, it was not just her head that got hurt, but also her knee, ankle, and spine. The “knee and the ankle and the rest of the spine is due to the way I twisted when I fell,” she revealed.
