Buddy Valastro is getting his fifth surgery in relation to a hand injury he endured in 2020. The celebrity chef updated fans ahead of the surgery with a video.
Buddy Valastro’s Final Hand Surgery
In the video, posted on Instagram on October 16, Valastro explains what is going to happen and why he needed the operation. “Today is my last day of work before I get my fifth and final hand surgery,” he said. “I got a lot of my strength back. I feel good. I can decorate, I can do anything.”
Valastro suffered the injury when his hand was impaled with a metal rod. He had been attempting to fix a malfunction with the pinsetter at his bowling alley in his home when the accident occured.
In the video, he showed fans how his hand has healed and the healing that still needs to take place. “I’m kinda like [Spock] and I don’t wanna be,” he joked. “The only problem out of my whole surgery is — it’s hard for me to give the middle finger. No more on this side.”
He also shared his thoughts and thanked the medical team with his caption. “The last step in a long journey, surgery #5 let’s do this!! Big thanks to Dr. Carlson and everyone at HSS for helping me finish strong. Can’t wait to share the progress soon!” he wrote.
Fans Show Support For Buddy Valastro
The comment section of Valastro’s Instagram post has been flooded with suportive messages and prayers from fans hoping for his speedy recovery.
“I remember when this happened I can’t believe you’re still dealing with this. I’m so sorry to hear that my friend you’re so close to the end wishing you and your family the best always,” a comment reads.
“We wish you a speedy recovery,” another person shared.
A third comment reads, “Good luck on your surgery Buddy, you will be in my prayers.”
Other reactions include, “Good luck and speedy recovery buddy!!” and “Buddy, you look fantastic! God bless you on your surgery. He’ll take care of you! (prayers) for you all.”
It’s good news, and the surgery went well because Valastro updated fans with a new video on Instagram on October 18. The clip shows his hand in bandages.
In the video, he attempts to decorate a cake. He once again shared his thoughts in the caption. “Thank you all for the kind messages and support you have sent me this week,” he wrote. “If I haven’t responded please forgive me, I only got one hand! I want to thank Doctor Carlson and everyone at HSS again for taking such good care of me. A surgery slowing me down??? Fuggetaboutit!!”
