Four years after the last movie in Hallmark’s “Morning Show Mysteries” franchise premiered, Holly Robinson Peete and “Today Show” meteorologist Al Roker are teaming up again for a new series.
As previously reported, the former Hallmark co-stars have collaborated on an animated series for PBSKids called “Weather Hunters.” It now has a premiere date of September 8, 2025. The reunion is a long time coming, since the last of six “Morning Show Mysteries” movies — executive-produced by Roker and based on his Talk Show Murders book series — aired in 2021.
Robinson Peete has shared multiple posts about the new show, including on August 20 — Roker’s birthday with multiple throwback BTS photos and videos from their days together at Hallmark. She wrote, “Only thing cooler than working with @alroker is being his friend for nearly 30 years!”

“Weather Hunters,” created for kids ages five to eight, aims “to support children’s understanding of weather through adventure and comedy,” according to Al Roker Entertainment, the weatherman’s production company. The show centers around eight-year-old Lily Hunter, “a weather detective” who shares her investigations with her parents and two siblings.
Roker plays Lily’s dad, meteorologist Al Hunter, and Robinson Peete voices the mom, former news producer Dot Hunter. The cast also includes actress Sheryl Lee Ralph and longtime “Reading Rainbow” host LeVar Burton.

Al Roker Released a New Mystery Book in 2024 — Could a New Movie Be Next?
In “Morning Show Mysteries,” Robinson Peete starred as Billie Blessing — a female twist on the character Billy Blessing that Roker wrote about in his book series. The franchise began in 2018, with six movies co-starring Rick Fox. The final movie in 2021 featured Colin Lawrence.
Roker was executive-producer of the franchise and appeared in cameos, and he also was executive producer of Robinson-Peete’s 2020 movie, “The Christmas Doctor.”
In 2024, the beloved meteorologist released a fourth book in the “Talk Show Murders” series. There’s no word on whether a new movie might come from it, but Robinson Peete returned to Hallmark in May, co-starring in “Hats Off to Love,” after nearly two years away and said she has more Hallmark projects in the works.
“I went, you know, pretty much since 2015, making one, two, sometimes three movies a year,” she told EntertainmentNow of her history at Hallmark. “So I’m just excited to be back in the mix.”
