“Problems” rapper A$AP Rocky was seen around October 29 going down on one knee and presenting a ring box to Margaret Qualley.
Qualley is the 31-year-old daughter of actress Andie MacDowell, best remembered for her unforgettable roles in hits of the ’90s such as “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” and “Groundhog Day.”
She has since reinvented herself as a Hallmark mainstay, appearing in projects such as “The Beach House” and “The Way Home.”
So what was going on? Did A$AP Rocky really propose to Margaret Qualley? Not exactly, but the rap star certainly was convincing as he acted out the romantic gesture while filming a fashionable Chanel commercial with the brunette beauty.
Rocky, who welcomed his third child and first daughter with Rihanna on September 13, 2025, wore a vibrant orange set, while Qualley rocked slouchy trousers and a colorful statement jacket. Her hair was in a slicked back bun.
Margaret Qualley Teamed With Mom Andie MacDowell in ‘Maid’ Before Her Star Turn in ‘The Substance’
Qualley had her most visible role yet when she starred with Demi Moore in 2024’s hugely acclaimed “The Substance,” which was nominated in five Oscar categories, but she was already making headway in 2021 with her powerful performance in Netflix’s miniseries “Maid,” based on the memoir by Stephanie Land.
MacDowell, who plays the eccentric and at many times toxic mother of Qualley’s character, told Collider starring in the project with her daughter was “a gift” and an amazing opportunity. She said she was “astounded” her daughter welcomed her into the project, because Qualley has always wanted to “make her own road and her own journey” in Hollywood. She said her daughter considered her perfect for the role because MacDowell witnessed her own mother’s mental struggles, and grew up in “a crazy environment.”
A$AP Rocky Recently Opened Up About Acting in Spike Lee Film
Spike Lee’s film “Highest 2 Lowest,” which sees Rocky share the screen with acting great Denzel Washington, was released in August 2025. The 37-year-old said in an October 29 Perfect Magazine interview, “As a New Yorker, it was a dream come true to be between Denzel and Spike Lee. Their dynamic alone is just historical. So I’m honored to be an honorary member of their legacy.”
He explained how shooting the film was like going back home, saying, “I lived in the Bronx for a long time in my life. I was always back and forth between there and Harlem. It was my old stomping ground. My brother used to live on 161 and Gerard Avenue, and that’s where we shot the film. Literally on my old block. It was just like déjà vu. It was actually freaky, if I’m being honest.”
“Highest 2 Lowest” is about a music mogul who faces a perplexing moral dilemma when he is threatened by a ransom plot, per IMDb. It is based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime drama, “High and Low.”
