Christy Carlson Romano held back tears in an emotional video, expressing thanks to those who have supported her after recently sharing a positive cancer detection during a routine screening.
The actress, who just wrapped filming the Hallmark Christmas movie “Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True,” expressed her gratitude in an Instagram video on February 21, 2026, sitting outside with the dim sunlight basking on her face. As she took in a deep breath during that defining moment, Romano’s eyes began to well up. Without saying a word, her message was clear.
In a text overlay on the vulnerable video, the former Disney star wrote, “The outpouring of love has helped so much. Will keep you posted on PET scan and all other results ❤️.”
The actress reiterated her gratitude in her caption, writing, “Thank you 🙌.”
Christy Carlson Romano Reflects on Positive Cancer Screening
Romano’s fans and loved ones poured their hearts into her comments to emphasize their support as she navigates what’s next in her cancer battle after initially revealing the distressing news on Feb. 17.
“Your centeredness is beyond admirable. YOU GOT THIS!! 👏👏❤️,” wrote one.
“Praying for you. Thinking of you. You’re strong and you have a lot of support 🙏,” said another.
“You’ve got this, Christy! You WILL get better! ❤️🩹,” added a third.
When Romano first announced the results of her cancer screening, she shared that she and her husband of 13 years, Brendan Rooney, wanted to take advantage of early detection diagnostics, seeing that she has a long history of cancer in her family.
Although Rooney’s results thankfully “came back completely negative,” Romano tearfully admitted that hers “did not come back negative.”
Christy Carlson Romano Expresses Worry for Her 2 Young Daughters
When revealing the heartbreaking results, Romano also reflected on what matters most in her life, noting that she and Rooney’s young daughters, Sophia and Isabella, don’t deserve to see their mom go through an unexpected health battle.
“It’s time to have a strong sense of faith and know that it’s in God’s hands, most of it,” she said. “I’m sure people think I’m overreacting, but I’m not, because cancer is pretty serious, and I have two little girls.”
The 41-year-old, who watched her mom fight through and beat cancer while losing her father to the grave disease, also admitted she was in “disbelief” of the positive screening, adding that she is “a bit scared” of the unknown road ahead.
The next phase of Romano’s cancer battle will be the results of her PET scan to determine the location and severity of what has been detected.
