MTV reality star, Wes Bergmann, recently gave fans a look they haven’t seen in quite some time. And his young daughter Lucy had the sweetest reaction to it.
In a post shared to Instagram in early August 2026, the longtime “The Challenge” star showed off his newly clean-shaven face. Yep, he’s said goodbye to the beard fans have seen him sporting for years. Fans had plenty to say about Bergmann’s new look. But honestly, it was his daughter’s reaction that stole the show.
Bergmann and wife Amanda Hornick welcomed their daughter, Lucy, in 2023 after being open about their journey to becoming parents. Now, nearly three years later, Lucy got to see her dad without his signature facial hair. And her response was absolutely adorable.
Lucy Had the Sweetest Reaction to Her Dad’s New Look
After seeing Bergmann’s clean-shaven face, Lucy immediately ran to him and said, “Daddy,” before climbing into his lap for the sweetest hug. Yep, she may have needed a second to take in the new look. But there was no question that she knew exactly who was sitting in front of her.
Bergmann kept his caption simple, adding only three heart emojis: “♥️ ♥️ ♥️”
Fans immediately jumped into the comments with their own stories about what happened when their parents suddenly changed their appearance.
One fan said Lucy “handled it way better” than they did. When their dad shaved his mustache when they were three, they admit, “I got scared. I cried. 😂” While another joked, “Your face is naked! I feel like we haven’t seen that since the early 2000s 😂”
It seems like Lucy’s reaction really resonated with parents, too.
One fan shared a particularly sweet story about their own children, explaining that when their oldest freaked out after their dad shaved his beard, their youngest, who was around three at the time, said, “I love all’f daddy’s faces.” The fan added, “I never felt so loved in all my life.”
Another parent said their daughter had a similar reaction, explaining that she stared and smiled for a while, touched their face, spoke in baby tongue for a few seconds, and then hugged them.
One person joked, “She had to reassure herself it was you…” Another praised the toddler for seemingly taking a moment to process the change. They wrote, “This child is more emotionally centered than most adults. You can literally see her processing her thoughts and feelings 🥹”
And, naturally, longtime “The Challenge” viewers had something to say about Bergmann’s return to his old look. One fan declared, “THE OLD BABY WES AGAIN!! 😂 but awwwww her reaction was the best!”
Other Reality TV Stars Also Had Plenty to Say
GettyBergmann’s fellow reality TV stars also got in on the fun. “The Challenge” alums Paulie Calafiore and Jonna Mannion had their own reactions to the freshly shaved Bergmann.
Paulie wrote, “WOTW1 Wes is back 😮💨” while Jonna commented, “Daddy? It that you😂 aw she’s so cute!”
Meanwhile, Dylan Efron shared his own hilarious childhood memory.
“This is adorable! My dad had a mustache my whole life. I went away to college and came home, he came out of the bathroom and I screamed cuz I didn’t recognize him at first.”
Let’s be real, Bergmann’s beard has become such a recognizable part of his “Challenge” look. And seeing him without it is bound to be a little jarring for longtime viewers. Still, it seems like Lucy’s reaction proves that no matter how different Dad looks, she knows exactly who he is.
Wes Bergmann Has Built Quite the Reality TV Résumé
GettyBergmann first appeared on “The Real World: Austin” in 2005 before becoming one of the most recognizable faces in “The Challenge” franchise.
Having competed on more than 20 different iterations of “The Challenge,” Bergmann has won “The Duel,” “Rivals II,” and “All Stars 3.” He was also a finalist on “Fresh Meat,” “Rivals,” “War of the Worlds,” “Champs vs. Pros,” and “Champs vs. Stars 2.” He even appeared as a coach on “Spring Break Challenge” in 2010.
Outside of “The Challenge,” Bergmann has continued building his reality TV résumé. He competed on Season 2 of “House of Villains,” where he finished in second place. And on Season 28 of “Worst Cooks in America” as part of the Villains team. He almost made it to the end. But Bergmann was eliminated in the final episode and placing fourth overall.
Then, he joined “The Traitors” Season 3 as a surprise Faithful in Episode 2. However, his time in the castle was short-lived, as he was banished in Episode 6. Yep, even outside of “The Challenge,” Bergmann seems to have a knack for finding himself right in the middle of the action.
Wes Bergmann & Amanda Hornick’s Journey to Parenthood
Bergmann and Hornick married in 2018, according to People. When they announced they were expecting, Bergmann shared a message of support for others hoping to become parents, writing:
“We know the season of waiting too and send love & strength to anyone else hoping to one day become parents themselves.”
They welcomed Lucy in 2023, and Bergmann has since shared glimpses of his life as a dad with fans. That makes this latest moment even sweeter. After years of watching Bergmann compete on reality TV, fans are now getting to see him in a completely different role: as Lucy’s dad.
Honestly, there is something pretty special about watching a reality TV veteran who has spent so much time trying to outsmart everyone else completely melt when it comes to his daughter. Whether Wes Bergmann keeps the beard gone or eventually brings it back is anyone’s guess. But it seems like Lucy will be perfectly happy either way.
