Erin Cahill Says She Got ‘Super Lucky’ Landing New Hallmark Series ‘Mom’s the Bride’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Beloved Hallmark Channel star Erin Cahill is counting her lucky stars as her new unscripted series, “Mom’s the Bride,” premieres on May 7, 2026, via the network’s streamer, Hallmark+.

The sweet-as-can-be unscripted series follows Cahill as she helps a young woman in each episode throw her mom the wedding of her dreams, whether for a new marriage or a wedding do-over years later. As someone who truly loves love and honoring strong women, Cahill told EntertainmentNow that hosting the show has been a “dream.”

Although Hallmark+ has been expanding its programming slate with new, original scripted and unscripted series, Cahill didn’t have designs on landing her own show. That idea came straight from the top, she said, crediting Hallmark Media’s Head of Unscripted Programming, David Stefanou.

“I got super lucky,” Cahill told EntertainmentNow, recalling that Stefanou noticed how at ease she was while interacting with people as she filmed segments for “Christmas at Sea,” an unscripted series about guests on the Hallmark Christmas Cruise that premiered in July 2025. Stefanou witnessed Cahill’s magic again as she met fans and improvised with her co-stars at the Hallmark Christmas Experience in Kansas City.

Cahill marveled, “He just saw how I am with people, and he was like, ‘I have been developing this show, and I think you’d be perfect for it.’ When he told me, it was like, a 10-second elevator pitch — ‘You know, it’s about daughters planning their mother’s wedding’ or whatever.'”

That’s all she knew. But Cahill, who has starred in over a dozen Hallmark movies, including 2025’s “Christmas at the Catnip Cafe” and “Journey to You,” was intrigued. Eventually, she got to participate in a Zoom call with the production company responsible for pulling the show together and that’s when she got really invested.

She recalled, “We had a big Zoom, and the creator of the show had planned her mother’s wedding, and she was telling me about it. We’re all on the Zoom, and all of us got teary-eyed. Just the heart of this
show is so beautiful.”

Cahill told the group then and there that she was a solid “yes,” she said, adding, “I was like, ‘Guys, I’m so completely honored you thought of me. If this show does end up going forward, I’m joyful to be on the ride with you. It feels just so right.”

In the first episode, now available to stream on Hallmark+, Cahill helps a young EMT named Caitlen who wants to throw a Christmas-themed wedding for her mom, Sarah, and her longtime boyfriend-turned-fiancé.

Cahill accompanied Caitlen on venue visits, helped with dress shopping, attended a dessert tasting, and aided with decision-making throughout the nerve-wracking process under a tight timeline. And, of course, the actress attended the nuptials to see how everything turned out and if the surprises they planned went off without a hitch.

Cahill had so much fun filming the emotional and uplifting six-episode series with different mom-and-daughter duos, she told EntertainmentNow, “I just want to make sure enough people know what’s out there, because I think when they watch it, they’ll really resonate with it. And I think it brings such good (to viewers), so I really want to, like, tell as many people as I can (to watch it).”

The first episode of “Mom’s the Bride” is available to watch on Hallmark+, with new episodes dropping each Thursday. Cahill’s own family hasn’t seen the series yet, but she said she’s already made plans to watch the show with her sister and mom on Mother’s Day.
