Jenny Marrs Shares Emotional Update After Her Family’s Alaskan Vacation

HGTV star Jenny Marrs is already longing for her family’s unforgettable trip to Alaska.

The “Fixer to Fabulous” star took to Instagram on Friday, Aug. 7, to reflect on the family vacation after returning home one week earlier.

While the trip may be over, Marrs said she is still thinking about the time she spent exploring the state with her loved ones.

Marrs Remembers the Wonderful Trip

“We have now been home from Alaska for a full week,” Marrs wrote. “It was a whirlwind of a week and I’m really missing our time in Alaska.”

Marrs said she especially misses the scenery and the opportunity to slow down and spend meaningful time with her family.

“I miss the vastness, the rugged beauty and, most of all, the time we had tucked away, all together,” she continued.

The trip included plenty of family activities, from long hikes and fishing to exploring small towns and playing games together.

“Cousins laughing, late night board game competitions, long hikes in the forest hidden by towering trees, wildlife strolling past during morning coffee, impromptu fishing when a river beckoned from the roadside, exploring small towns and the gift of slowing down enough to notice it all,” Marrs recalled.

The vacation also held special significance for several generations of her family.

Marrs explained that her husband, Dave Marrs, and their sons had dreamed about visiting Alaska when the boys were younger and fascinated by the “Gold Rush” series.

Her mother had also dreamed about visiting the state since childhood, after her own father inspired that interest.

“It has been a long time coming and, for whatever reason, always felt out of reach or too overwhelming to tackle,” Marrs wrote.

After finally making the trip, however, Marrs said Alaska felt both familiar and completely different from anywhere they had previously visited.

“We often forgot we were on American soil,” she said.

Although the family only explored a portion of the massive state, Marrs said she hopes they will eventually return.

“Even so, we know that the someday trip will never be the same as this one,” she wrote. “It was the trip of a lifetime and I’ll forever be grateful for the memories we made together with our kids, my parents, and my sister and her family. What a gift this was.”

Fans Have Loved a Glimpse Into the Stunning Vacation

Her followers responded by sharing their own experiences with Alaska and praising the family memories Marrs documented throughout the trip.

“Life long Alaskan here, I love watching you explore and see it all for the 1st time,” one follower wrote.

Another person described their own Alaska vacation as a “trip of a lifetime,” while another praised Marrs and Dave for creating meaningful memories with their family.

Marrs had previously revealed that the trip was decades in the making.

“This trip was three decades in the making,” she wrote in an earlier post. “Expectations were high. Planning was challenging (13 people + the need to be in close proximity to an RV park + narrowing down our destinations because of the sheer size of Alaska). But? It has been undoubtably, absolutely worth it.”

She also promised to recap the family’s various stops, noting that she had already received questions from people planning their own Alaska vacations.

For Marrs, the adventure may be over for now, but the memories of the multigenerational getaway appear to be lasting far longer than the trip itself.
