A special tribute to Ozzy Osbourne took center stage on the latest episode of “The Masked Singer” — and it ended with a surprise celebrity reveal.
During the Wednesday, March 4 episode, themed “Ozzfest Night,” the mystery performer behind the Eggplant costume was unmasked as actor and singer Jack Wagner.
The installment honored Osbourne’s lasting influence on music and pop culture following the legendary rocker’s death in July 2025 at age 76.
Wagner Talks About Honoring Ozzy
For Wagner, being part of an episode dedicated to the heavy metal icon made the experience especially meaningful, he told PEOPLE.
“Ozzfest [was] a great honor to Ozzy Osbourne,” he said after the reveal, referencing the famous music festival created by Osbourne and his wife, Sharon Osbourne.
Sharon previously announced she plans to bring Ozzfest back.
The tribute episode also featured a guest appearance from Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who joined the judging panel for the night.
The “When Calls the Heart” actor said he actually had a personal connection to the family long before appearing on the show.
“I know Sharon through doing ‘The Talk,’ and she did a guest appearance on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ — we did a bed scene together,” Wagner recalled with a laugh.
Warner Performed a Series of Hits
Throughout the season, Wagner had been performing anonymously in the Eggplant costume, delivering a series of eclectic musical performances before ultimately being eliminated during the Ozzy-themed episode.
The 66-year-old first appeared on the show in week two, performing “Rocket Man” by Elton John — a song he said he felt particularly comfortable with.
“When I got to sing ‘Rocket Man,’ forget about it,” Wagner said. “I’ve been an Elton John fan — that’s kind of my generation — and I felt my vocal was pretty good. So, to nail ‘Rocket Man’ out of the box was awesome for me.”
Later performances included “American Woman,” popularized by Lenny Kravitz.
But his final performance — fittingly part of the Ozzy tribute episode — pushed him out of his musical comfort zone.
For Ozzfest Night, Wagner tackled “One Step Closer” by Linkin Park, a group that once performed at the real-life Ozzfest festival during its early years.
“Linkin Park is not my wheelhouse,” Wagner admitted to the outlet. “For me to try to do a Linkin Park song, I really had to bust my butt.”
The actor said he leaned into the high-energy performance, even though the costume made it difficult to move.
“I tried to jump. I tried to add as much White-man crazy rock voice as I could,” he joked. “But once I started jumping around, I thought, ‘Forget it — I’m just going to rock out here and let it be what it is.’”
Even though his run on the show has ended, Wagner said the experience reminded him how much he loves performing — particularly on a night dedicated to one of rock’s most influential figures.
