Jane Seymour Recalls Marrying the Late Freddie Mercury in 1985: ‘Absolutely Sublime Moment’

Jane Seymour, 75, is reliving some of her fondest memories!

Seymour shared a TikTok video on Wednesday, March 18, where she dished on marrying Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in 1985. The two tied the knot at the Fashion Aid charity event in London’s Royal Albert Hall, People reported.

While the event was staged as a mock wedding to help raise money for Ethiopian famine relief, the “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman: The Movie” star recalled the standout moments from her wedding to the late singer, noting that her dress and accessories were almost too heavy for her to walk down the aisle.

Seymour, who starred in Hallmark’s 2025 mini-series “Twelve Dates ‘Til Christmas,” explained in her TikTok video how fashion designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel often used her as their muse and decided that for the fundraiser, she would be the perfect fit as Mercury’s bride.

“So, I’m backstage… a quiet, innocent British actress,” Seymour explained. “They did my hair really huge. They put on this extraordinary gown that I could barely walk in. They put a wreath of flowers around my head that to this day, I can remember the migraine. And a huge bouquet that I could barely carry.”

The “Dancing with the Stars” celebrity noted that during the event, she ran into some of the industry’s most famous entertainers — which was surreal, as she was in the beginning stage of her career.

“I remember at one point I’m backstage and suddenly, I think I’m flanked by David Bowie, Boy George and Freddie Mercury. I think he looked right through me!” she shared. “I was as bridal as you could ever get. And then I thought to myself, ‘Oh my gosh, this is like an amazing moment.’”

“Then we go on stage. It’s been rehearsed, but not in the outfits. Freddie’s just prancing, off doing Freddie Mercury, and I’m supposed to be his bride, so I’m like running behind like crazy as fast as I can in this huge dress,” she elaborated. That’s when things got hot and heavy between the “Living On My Own” singer and Seymour.

“Freddie just suddenly turns into the groom, and he kisses me! He kisses me right in front of everyone,” she exclaimed. “And then he grabs my flowers and he looks at the audience and he throws them. And this thing, if it hit somebody, it could seriously hurt them.”

Seymour ended her story by declaring the experience one of the best moments of her life, saying, “It was an absolutely sublime moment and one of the great memories of my life being Freddie Mercury’s wife.”

Mercury was never legally married before he died in 1991 after suffering from bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS. He was, however, engaged to his longtime partner Mary Austin, whom he referred to as his “common-law wife,” Parade reported. Mercury also referred to his devoted partner Jim Hutton, who lived with the singer until his death, as his husband.

Seymour, though, has been legally married four separate times to husbands: Michael Attenborough (1971-1973), Geoffrey Planer (1997-1998), David Flynn (1981-1992) and James Keach (1993-2015), HELLO! reported.
