Hallmark Actress Bravely Undergoes Surgery on Both Feet, Injured in Terrifying Fall

Two years after Mamie Laverock, known for her role as Rosaleen Sullivan on Hallmark’s long-running series “When Calls The Heart,” suffered devastating injuries in a four-story fall, the actress underwent surgery to address issues with both of her feet on June 3, 2026.

The operation came days after Vancouver General Hospital — where Laverock, now 21, spent months recovering — held a ceremony in which she presented and donated a painting to the hospital’s storied art collection and thanked the staff for saving her life.

In a video posted to Laverock’s Facebook account on June 3, she could be seen in a hospital bed awaiting surgery.

“I’m getting both feet operated on, when we thought it was just gonna be one and then have to wait another year for the other one,” she explained to the camera, smiling. “But we’re getting both done in one surgery this time!”

A day earlier, another post on the account — likely written by her mom Nicole Rockmann, who has kept fans updated throughout her daughter’s recovery journey — featured a childhood photo of Laverock holding up two skates.

The caption said, “Turn back time Tuesday. You forget what you have enjoyed until you have to fight for it back. Let’s fix these feet. First surgery after acute care starts tomorrow. All the love for you Mamie as you head to surgery.”

Fans and friends flooded the Facebook posts with well-wishes, including one who wrote, “Two for one! Hope it all goes smoothly and that you can emerge stronger and pain free.”

Another commented, “Praying all goes well and you are not in pain, sweet girl! Sending love and hugs! You look really good! I know this probably means alot of hard physical therapy work coming so just know I will be thinking and praying for you! ♡♡♡”

“I pray your surgeries go well and that you heal quickly,” someone else wrote. “You look amazing, which is evidence of the Lord’s healing. I pray you are able to be on WCTH again.”

Mamie Laverock Donated Her Art to Vancouver General Hospital Before Her Surgery

In May 2024, Laverock was 19 when she suffered a five-story fall off the balcony of a Vancouver hospital where she was being treated for an undisclosed medical issue. After several days on life support, Laverock spent nearly three months recovering in another hospital, enduring multiple surgeries and health hurdles.

Before the tragedy, Laverock was in art school in addition to acting, and building her portfolio of paintings. In a post shared after her surgery on June 3, she could be seen in a wheelchair with her feet bandaged, in front of a colorful, abstract painting called “Balance” that she donated to the hospital.

“Mamie’s art was mounted today on the 7th floor in the ortho trauma unit,” her family captioned the post. “Same unit she spent so long in, across from her old room.”

According to a report by CTV News on May 27, the hospital’s foundation has a collection of more than 2,800 works of art meant to “provide a calming and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.”

Laverock told the station, “I would not have survived if it wasn’t them, and I really want to say I love them all so much, even though I don’t really know them. But I know them in my heart, and I know that they helped me through the most difficult time in my life.”

According to a Facebook post from her family, a limited run of 99 registered prints will be made of Laverock’s painting via a local art gallery for $1600 each, with proceeds going to help fund her recovery and a scholarship in her name for local kids.

Mamie Laverock’s Sisters Are Also Hallmark Actresses

In one of the photos posted after Laverock’s surgery, she was flanked by her two sisters, who are also familiar faces to Hallmark fans, seen in the post above with their mom and grandma. Laverock’s older sister, Laiken Laverock, was in 2015’s “‘Tis the Season for Love,” while their younger sister, Cadence Compton, most recently played Andrew Walker’s daughter in 2025’s “She’s Making a List.”

Mamie Laverock is well known to “When Calls The Heart” fans for her award-winning role as Rosaleen Sullivan, the daughter of Hope Valley’s Molly Sullivan — played by Johannah Newmarch. In 2014, her character was so traumatized over the death of her dad that she couldn’t speak. Laverock won the Young Artists Award for Best Performance in a TV Series for that performance and was nominated for a Leo.

Laverock made a celebrated return to the show nearly 10 years later, in 2023. Months after her fall, she surprised fans at the annual Hearties Family Reunion event, appearing with star Erin Krakow to thank everyone for their support.

Laverock also appeared in Hallmark’s 2018 rom-com “Wedding of Dreams” starring Debbie Gibson, and in 2019, she appeared in two episodes of Netflix’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” per IMDb.
