When you hear the title of Rachael Leigh Cook‘s newest Hallmark film, “Caught By Love,” it probably evokes thoughts of an unexpected romance. But Cook, who stars in the film, thinks of something completely different.
“It makes me almost think of ‘Prisoner of Love,'” she admitted to Sari Cohen on the “Hallmarkies Podcast.” “You know, beautiful, intense song, and that’s kind of how I feel about my kids. Like, I am just such a servant to how much I love them.”
The “A Tourist’s Guide to Love” star quickly recognized that “that is not what this movie is about.”
“This movie is about stolen jewels and the super hot Luke MacFarlane on an island,” Cook summarized. She went on to explain why she felt she was meant to be in the film, and whether MacFarlane really is as nice as he seems.
HallmarkRachael Leigh Cook Connected with Her Character’s Midwestern Vibe
Cook admitted that, despite “the super hot” MacFarlane being cast as her character’s love interest, that wasn’t what drew her to the film.
“Honestly, I really liked the writing,” she admitted. “Now, I was not a part of producing this at all. I did not really get my hands on the script very much, except for some silly things that I added in, and that they were nice enough to leave. But I just really felt like the character being midwestern, a little bit of a fish out of water, loving adventure and excitement. I was just like, ‘Oh, I was born here.’ I was like, ‘I can do this tomorrow.'”
Cook gets her midwestern cred from growing up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. “Not to toot my own horn, I just felt like I was kind of like a good match for the role,” she added.
The Only Downside to Working with ‘Nicest Person’ MacFarlane, Says Rachael Leigh Cook
Cook had heard rumors that MacFarlane is one of the nicest people “among nice people.” She was still shocked to find how spot-on that was.
“To my occasionally cynical ear, there’s always a voice that goes, ‘How nice can they be? Calm down, everybody,” she said. But she was surprised to find that it was all true. However, despite her admiration for his “class and professionalism,” she jokingly admitted that she had one complaint about her co-star.
“He is willing to do just about whatever,” the “Autumn In the Vineyard” actress said. “They wanted us to be in a pool for a scene. I was like, ‘It’s too cold, I will die in there.’ And I look over, and Luke’s already in the pool.”
It doesn’t sound like Cook has any hard feelings, though.
“Whatever comes my way, if I see that he’s attached to it, I’m there,” she revealed. “I’ll be like, ‘I don’t have to read the script, let’s do it.”

Loved the movie!
