Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott are giving fans a nostalgic glimpse into their early years — and the internet can’t get enough.
The beloved HGTV stars, best known as the duo behind “Property Brothers,” took to their joint Instagram account to celebrate Earth Day with a throwback photo that perfectly captures their lifelong love of the outdoors.
All About the Sweet Snapshot
In the snapshot, the twins are seen as young boys sitting atop horses, framed by a stunning mountain backdrop. One sports a cowboy hat, adding to the rugged, ranch-style charm of the moment.
“Happy Earth Day! 🌎 Drew and Jonathan have always been big fans of the great outdoors,” they captioned the post — a simple message that resonated with fans who quickly flooded the comments with heart emojis and nostalgic reactions.
While the photo itself is a sweet look back, it also reflects the environment that helped shape who the brothers are today.
Born in 1978, Drew and Jonathan grew up on a working ranch in Maple Ridge, a suburb of Vancouver, Canada, alongside their older brother, JD.
That upbringing instilled a strong work ethic early on — something both have often credited as key to their success.
The Two Have Previously Talked About Their Upbringing
Despite being identical twins, the two have always pushed back on the idea that they are one and the same.
“I’m so afraid. I’m scared. How do I stand on my own when we share a brain?” Drew joked in a 2024 chat with TODAY.com, poking fun at how often people blur the lines between them. “It’s funny how so many people think twins have to be together, have to do everything together. Some people don’t even see us as individuals, which — it’s just funny to us.”
At home, however, their parents made a conscious effort to nurture their individuality.
Drew recalled how their mom and dad would spend one-on-one time with each child, ensuring they never felt like they were being treated as a single unit.
“As a kid, you don’t think about it. But as an adult, looking back, I remember how good that felt,” he shared.
That balance — independence paired with partnership — has become a defining part of their dynamic.
“But we love working together. I think we learn a lot individually. We also learn a lot when we’re together,” Drew added.
Their teamwork actually dates back to childhood entrepreneurship.
At just 7 years old, the brothers launched their first business, JAM Enterprises, selling decorative hangers.
The name itself — short for “John, Andrew, Mom” — was a family affair, and the experience sparked a passion that never left them.
“It got us hooked on that idea of creating something from nothing,” Drew said, noting that even then, they loved performing and pitching ideas.
Jonathan echoed that sentiment, adding that their shared drive has always been a key advantage.
“It’s almost like that perpetual motion machine because there are two of us who are committed to the same goal,” he explained.
Decades later, that same energy fuels their thriving careers across television, real estate and design.
