Multiple HGTV Stars Land Role in New Hulu Series ‘Designed to Last’

In the all-new Hulu series “Designed to Last,” two fan-favorite HGTV stars will join together to judge the 4-episode competition reality series to help determine which design team developed the most innovative — and cost-effective — safeguard for a home that will aid in the structure’s longevity against unexpected weathering conditions.

Acting as judges in the show are Wendell Holland from HGTV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and Eric Eremita from HGTV’s “Love It or List It.”

The two judges will evaluate three teams with three individuals on each team, who will work together to design and create a functional way to protect homes against extreme and real-world elemental conditions such as ice, floods, fires and more. Each of the four episodes will represent one of four environmental threats: snow, water, wind and fire.

Each team will utilize a tiny home as their foundation for their safeguard design. The teams will have 10 hours on the clock per episode to create their modification.

In an Instagram post from Hulu, the network shared the trailer for “Designed to Last,” as well as a caption that read, “3 teams. 3 tiny homes. But only 1 is #Designed To Last. Streaming May 5 on Hulu.”

The teams will be grouped up with professionals who work in architecture, engineering and inventing. They will embark on a high-stakes series of challenges involving the creation of innovative home designs that work to encourage the audience to imagine new ways to prepare and protect their home from unpredictable situations that could otherwise destroy the house.

The team that is able to develop the most innovative safeguard for their home while also nurturing its infrastructure so it may last after any extreme weathering conditions subside will be awarded a $100,000 grant to further develop their innovative home safeguard. HGTV’s Holland and Eremita will determine the winning team, PRWeb reported.

The safeguard designs made by the three teams will showcase various vulnerabilities homeowners across the globe face, whether it be dry heat, rising humidity, susceptibility to flooding, snow and ice formation, sandstorms, windstorms, and more.

The goal of the competition series is to create the best possible safeguard that not only lasts a lifetime but is also affordable to create.
