Jenny Marrs paid tribute to a talented artisan her family met in Italy, recalling how they tracked him down after first spotting his work. See what the HGTV star said about the man, who was a third generation coppersmith.
Jenny Marrs Remembers a Talented Artisan
On March 25, Marrs took to Instagram to pay tribute to an Italian artisan who recently passed away.
In the video, Marrs noted, “Dave, Charlotte, and I are on a mission … we are trying to find the artisan who made the beautiful copper pot that we saw at dinner.”
She continued, as footage showed their meeting, “We met the coppersmith, named Cesare. And this shop has been in his family for 150 years. This talent of being a coppersmith is something that has been handed down generation after generation after generation, which is really common here in Italy.”
“We spent several hours in the workshop with Cesare that day,” she wrote in the caption. “Charlotte still has the ☀️ on copper he gifted her hanging on the wall in her room. I could have listened to his stories for hours longer and Dave certainly loved watching the master artisan work.”
Marrs continued, “In the subsequent years since, we’d pass Cesare during his evening stroll, the passeggiata. We’d offer a Buonasera and a smile and he’d tip his hat in response.”
“There, on the streets of his beloved town of Montepulciano, where he was known by everyone, he had faithfully worked as a coppersmith and as a barrel maker for the famed Bravìo delle Botti race, impacting generations through his work,” the HGTV star noted.
She added, “His steady presence will be missed by our family and so many others. Rest in Peace, Cesare Mazzetti. 🙏”
Coppersmith Appeared in a Deleted HGTV ‘Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano’ Scene
In a 2024 Instagram post, Marrs explained that the clip of their meeting was a deleted scene from their show “Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano.”
“Cesare is a bit of a local legend in Tuscany. He is a third generation coppersmith who makes all of the copper pots and utensils and kettles he sells by hand (‘Fatto a mano’),” she wrote at the time. “Meeting him, hearing his story, and watching his work was incredibly special for us.”
She noted, “Unfortunately, this scene was deleted (due to time) but it’s worth sharing because Cesare’s work is incredible and should be shared with the world!”
Fans flooded the comments section of Marrs’ tribute post, with many noting what a special interaction Dave, Jenny, and Charlotte had with Cesare.
“You were so blessed to have met such an incredible man! Prayers for his family,” one fan wrote.
Another follower noted, “What a kind gentleman, sweet soul, talented man 😔😢 so very sorry 🙏🏻 How kind of you to search for him and his art! Love that.”
