HGTV’s Jenny Marrs Shares Emotional Story of Twins’ Miracle Birth as a ‘Terrified First-Time Mom’

Jenny Marrs is opening up about the fears she faced during her pregnancy with twins. The HGTV star recalls the worry, hope, and joy surrounding their miracle birth.

Jenny Marrs Recalls Praying During Terrifying Experience

On May 8, Marrs took to Instagram to reflect on her pregnancy with twins. Her boys, now 16, were competing in a track meet and she captured a gorgeous sunset pic on their drive home.

“The beauty of the setting sun caught my eye as we drove away from the boys’ state track meet this week,” she noted.

“As I looked at the sky, I exhaled a prayer of deep gratitude,” Marrs continued. “Not for the PR’s. Not for the accolades. I simply thanked God for answering a desperate plea from a terrified first-time momma-to-be exactly 16 years ago.”

The HGTV star shared photos of how the story unfolded, beginning with a pic of her in a hospital bed.

“On April 29, 2010, I went to my doctor because I was having dull stomach pain,” she explained. “Within the hour, I was admitted to the hospital and moved to the L&D unit.”

Marrs continued, “After nine hours, the attending doctor decided I needed to be transferred by helicopter to UAMS in Little Rock in order to deliver my too-early-to-be-born twins at a hospital with the capabilities to care for them. The flight would save us four hours of travel time.”

The situation was scary, as Marrs recalled that when she was told the “risks associated with premature twins, I couldn’t focus.”

The neonatologist “went hazy” to Marrs in that moment, “And her words were incomprehensible to my ears. As she spoke, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace, and the words ‘They will be okay’ resonated in my spirit.”

“I didn’t hear them aloud, but I have never been more confident of the voice of God,” she shared.

The “Fixer to Fabulous” star shared her words to God. “They’re yours, Lord. You brought us this far, and I know you’ve got them,” she said. “They’ve always been yours. I love them so very much and I haven’t even met them yet. I can’t imagine how much you must love them if I feel this way. Can you please keep them safe in there for a while longer? Prove all of these doctors wrong. Please, Lord. Please.”

Her prayers were answered, as Marrs said the neonatologist “came back into the room and smiled” later with the good news.

“We had made it,” Marrs shared. “I received the second dose of steroids for the boys’ lung development.”

She prayed “that the Holy Spirit would fill the lungs of my boys with strength and might.”

“I prayed that they would defy every odd we were given,” Marrs explained. “I prayed that they would shout and jump and tumble like little boys do. I prayed that they would one day run around a track and play in a soccer game.”

Marrs shared the details of their arrival into the world — they were “so small they could fit in the palm of Dave’s hand.”

The HGTV star beamed with pride over all of the time spent supporting their boys as they played sports. “They just learned that their varsity team will be headed to the state championship next week,” she wrote. “I am so proud of their hard work and dedication.”

She concluded, “As I cheered at the state track meet this week, I exhaled another prayer from my momma heart … Thank you, Jesus, for answering my desperate prayer and for loving these kids even more than I could ever imagine.”

“You have good plans for them and their story will always be a miracle story.”
