In 2025, fans were shocked as the stars of at least seven HGTV shows revealed their series had been canceled. Budget issues, ratings slumps, and a new creative direction have been blamed for the changes.
HGTV has since announced multiple new shows that focus less on expensive home renovations and more on real estate, home decor, and deal-finding, including “Queer Eye” alum Bobby Berk’s “Junk or Jackpot,” to premiere in 2026. But what are the stars of HGTV’s canceled series doing months after learning their fate? Here’s an update on how they’re doing and where to find them…
Jonathan Knight is Focused on His New Kids on the Block Residency After HGTV Cancellation

In late June, one of HGTV’s most famous personalities — New Kids on the Block member Jonathan Knight — disclosed in a social media post that the network decided not to renew “Farmhouse Fixer” for a fourth season.
Acknowledging his design partner Kristina Crestin, he wrote, “While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina and I are so grateful for all your support over the past 3 seasons. Television has been so incredibly fun for us. We are so proud of what we created together and look forward to sharing what’s next for us.”
At the time of his announcement, Knight was in Las Vegas, performing with his decades-old boy band New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) as part of the group’s new “The Right Stuff” residency at the Dolby Live at Park MGM. Knight is currently back in Vegas with NKOTB for a second leg of the residency, running from November 1 – 15, and they’re due back for a third run in February 2026.
Knight and his husband, Harley Rodriguez, also took some time to “recharge” in August with a trip to Croatia, and continue to focus on their passions, including tending to their New England farm and working on conservation projects. Knight has not completely shut the door on working again with HGTV; he told Country Living in July he’d love to develop a series around gardening.
‘Farmhouse Fixer’ Designer Kristina Crestin Lost Best Friend After Losing Show
HGTVSadly, just weeks after losing their show, Knight’s design partner, Crestin, also suffered two other significant losses — the death of her beloved 15-year-old dog Cooper and the passing of her best friend and fellow designer Keith Musinski.
She continues to run her successful design firm — Kristina Crestin Design — in Manchester by the Sea, Massachussetts, periodically posting details about past and present New England design projects.
Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson Are Keeping Busy After HGTV Cancellation
HGTV“Married to Real Estate” stars Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson learned that their show had been canceled one month after the last episode of their fourth season aired.
Fans were shocked in late June when Sherrod wrote on social media, “Mike and I just landed back in the States after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean, and we’re met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate.”
Ironically, “Married to Real Estate” was later nominated for its first Emmy weeks after the cancellation. In mid-October, the Atlanta-based couple headed to Los Angeles for the 52nd annual Daytime Emmys, but the Emmy for Outstanding Instructional/How-To Program went to Joanna and Chip Gaines, nominated for their limited series “Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse.”
The couple has held their heads high since the cancellation and is staying busy juggling family life with their daughters, running their businesses (Sherrod owns a real estate firm and Jackson has a home renovation company), and seeking out new media opportunities (they seem wholly uninterested in returning to HGTV).
‘Bargain Block’ Stars Will Reunite for Meet-and-Greet This Weekend
HGTVKeith Bynum and Evan Thomas of “Bargain Block” were the first HGTV stars to reveal their show had not been renewed in 2025. The last episodes of their fourth season aired in August. When Bynum shared the air dates, he provided an intriguing response to someone who wrote, “Can’t wait to watch! Hopefully the viewing response will change HGTV’s minds and bring you back for good!!”
The interior designer and artist replied, “haha no thanks! Yall gonna really love the next chapter :)”
Bynum and Thomas, who’ve been life and work partners for a decade, shifted gears when they learned their show wasn’t moving forward, and refocused on private client work. On November 5, Bynum shared that they’d visited nine states in the last week and were excited to share some of the projects they’ve been working on.
The duo’s real estate partner on the show, Shea Hicks Whitfield, has continued her work selling homes in Detroit. She will reunite with Bynum and Thomas on November 9 for a meet-and-greet at the All Things Detroit Holiday Market.
Izzy Battres Took a Bucket List Trip & is Focused on His Business
HGTVThe third show to hit the chopping block in June was longtime HGTV contractor Izzy Battres’ series “Izzy Does It,” which premiered in February. When a fan asked Battres on Instagram whether a second season was in the works, he replied on June 23, “Unfortunately no Season 2 but we’re truly, thankful for everyone watching and supporting us!!”
Battres appeared for years on “Flip or Flop” with Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack before getting his own show. But his main bread and butter has been running his family-owned home construction business, based in Santa Ana, California.
But the hard-working Battres has taken some time to relax, too. In October, Battres shared on social media that he and his wife Lilly, made a bucket list trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, where his mom grew up.
‘Battle on the Beach’ Stars Are Still Appearing on HGTV
HGTVOn July 1, longtime HGTV star Alison Victoria revealed that “Battle on the Beach” was the latest casualty in the network’s cancellations. The competition show ran for five seasons, pitting three duos of amateurs against each other while fulfilling weekly challenges as they transformed three different beach homes.
Although the show isn’t coming back, its stars have landed on their feet. Victoria premiered her new show “Sin City Rehab” in September; fellow team advisor Ty Pennington has been busy filming the seventh season of “Rock the Block,” which he’s hosted since it began; and the show’s third expert advisor, Taniya Nayak, is competing for the first time on “Rock the Block” while her annual ABC show “The Great Christmas Light Fight” premieres its 11th season on December 4.
Meanwhile, “Battle on the Beach” judges Bryan and Sarah Baeumler have been keeping busy, too. He just co-starred with Scott McGillivray on HGTV’s “Renovation Resort Showdown” and the couple has multiple projects in the works with HGTV Canada.
‘The Flip Off’ Stars Are Leaving the Doors Open for Their Other Shows
GettyMany fans were surprised to learn that HGTV had not renewed longtime HGTV stars Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa’s individual shows, especially after their competition series “The Flip Off” was such a hit in early 2025.
“Christina in the Country” ended in 2024 amid Haack’s split from her third husband, Josh Hall, and in July, Us Weekly reported that her other show, “Christina on the Coast” had been canceled after five seasons and El Moussa’s show with his second wife Heather, “The Flipping El Moussas,” was not renewed either.
The trio has said in multiple interviews that they’re hoping HGTV may still bring back their shows, but in the meantime, they’ve begun filming a second season of “The Flip Off.”

I want my Bargain block guys back. They are funny and love watching them improve Detroit one block at a time. And New Orleans show was great. I miss watching them. SuZie b
Same! Love them want them back!
I love them to and also want them back
I quit watching HGTV after Bargain Block was cancelled. The guys are talented and funny, and their affordable homes make a big difference to Detroit neighborhoods.

Please delete this duplicate! I had trouble posting so I tried again.
I loved Bargain Block, why cancel such a good program? Those guys and Shea helped neighborhoods by fixing up houses and when finished those houses looked great!
Why don’t you stop showing House Hunters so much? That’s all HGTV has on anymore! It’s on all night and then during the day it’s on to! I do not watch HGTV as much anymore. Whoever came up with the idea to cancel Bargain Block should be fired!
This show should be brought back. It was great seeing them revitalize the neglected properties
Show is not the same, very seldom watch. With streaming become more popular, these
people can create their own shows and say goodbye to HGTV, –which keeps going down the tube
anyways.
