Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama shared the details of their weight loss journey after “Renovation Aloha” fans noticed them looking slimmer. Some wondered if Kamohai was dealing with illness, but the HGTV couple shared all of the details of their weight loss efforts and the reasons behind it.
Tristyn & Kamohai Kalama Weight Loss Explained During Live Chat
During an April 29 Instagram Live, the couple chatted about their recent weight loss.
“Somebody asked if I was getting skinnier,” Kamohai noted as he looked for fan questions to answer.
He continued, “OK, yes, both of us have gotten skinnier.”
“In 2026, we decided we’re going all in on our health So we started doing a ton of research. We started peptides,” Kamohai explained.
The reason behind the shift to healthier living had a lot to do with their kids.
“This is the thing … Tris and I have two young children and we want to be the best versions of ourselves for them,” Kamohai shared. “We’re going to be here for as long as humanly possible.”
He noted that being in a stressful industry also made them want to prioritize their health.
“We’re on that health journey. Yes, my face looks skinnier,” the HGTV star said. “I’m probably in the best shape of my life since high school — like everything across the board, blood work. And so is Tris.”
Tristyn added, “I’ve lost 20 pounds.”
Kamohai also shared that he works out daily, while Tristyn said she is looking to add exercise to her routine.
They also shared some of the peptides they’re taking, including glutathione and Retatrutide, and promised to discuss their peptide usage in more detail soon.
Is ‘Renovation Aloha’ Canceled?
As their Instagram Live was wrapping up, Tristyn took a moment to address rumors that “Renovation Aloha” had been canceled.
“You guys, people are saying, ‘Oh I see that your show is canceled,'” the HGTV star said. “Our show is not canceled.”
Kamohai added, “Not even close.”
Tristyn noted, “So go tell everyone you know that that’s absurdity. That’s AI being stupid.”
“No, our show is not canceled,” she added. “Episodes air every Tuesday.”
Earlier in their discussion, they shared that they are filming year round, renovating 6 to 7 houses at a time.
“Your guys’ support means everything,” Kamohai said.
The cancellation rumors started swirling after HGTV re-edited season 3, episode 3 of “Renovation Aloha,” where the couple discovered human remains at a Hawai’i property.
“We take the concerns raised by the Native Hawaiian community very seriously and are committed to ensuring our programming is respectful and appropriate,” a statement from Lynne Davis Adeyemi, vice president of communications for Warner Bros. Discovery, read.
The statement added, “We apologize to anyone who found any part of the episode offensive, as that was not HGTV’s intention.”
During an April 16 Instagram Live video, Kamohai and Tristyn shared how they followed the proper steps and recommended guidance upon making the discovery in a lava tube. They ultimately put up a fence to make sure the property was never developed.
“That property will remain that way in perpetuity which will ensure that no one ever gets to build on that site and it will remain that way forever. For us, that was most important,” Kamohai shared.
