VIDEO: Chuck Norris Is Actually the Man Who Sang His Show’s Opening Theme Song

Chuck Norris may be best known for his action roles and martial arts legacy, but there’s one surprising moment from his career that continues to catch fans off guard — he once recorded and performed his own TV theme song.

In a past interview with Us Weekly, Norris shared that he was actually the voice behind Walker, Texas Ranger’s opening track, “The Eyes of a Ranger.”

Norris’ Shared the Surprising Fact

“[Fans] might not know I actually recorded the opening song for my television series Walker, Texas Ranger,” he revealed. “I wanted Randy Travis to sing the theme song, ‘The Eyes of a Ranger,’ but CBS insisted that I had to sing it.”

The unexpected decision pushed Norris far outside his comfort zone.

Known for his stoic on-screen presence, the actor admitted the recording process wasn’t exactly easy.

According to Norris, it took him two full days in the studio to complete the track, which he described as being delivered in a unique style.

He explained that he had to “rap in the style of Johnny Cash,” blending spoken-word elements with the rugged tone of the show.

Despite his initial hesitation, the end result turned out better than expected — in fact, Norris revealed he “even won an award” for the performance.

The success of the song led to an even more nerve-wracking moment for the actor.

“CBS was so excited that they booked me at Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth, Texas, on New Year’s Eve to perform it live,” he said.

Taking the stage in front of a live audience proved to be one of the most intimidating experiences of his career.

“There is an old saying that every singer wants to act and every actor wants to sing. Famous last words, because I’ve never been so nervous in my life,” Norris admitted.

Tributes Pour On

Following news of Norris’ passing, tributes from across the entertainment world have continued to surface, highlighting both his professional legacy and personal impact.

Priscilla Presley shared a heartfelt message, writing, “I’m so sad to hear that my Karate instructor and friend Chuck Norris has passed away. He will be forever missed,” alongside a photo of the late star.

Members of Norris’ family expressed their sadness in heartbreaking social media posts.

As fans revisit moments like his unexpected turn as a singer, it’s clear that Norris’ legacy goes far beyond his action-hero image — spanning television, music, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

  1. I never had the chance to meet Chuck Norris, but I felt a connection of sorts because we shared the same singing coach, Elizabeth Sabine. My ex father-in-law also met him from the martial arts circuit at one point. It’s been years since he told me the story, so I don’t remember the details, but it’s like I was always one degree from Chuck Norris. Probably other people I know or did know, too, also have a Chuck Norris connection. I always admired him. My teacher had all sorts of famous heavy metal singers, but he was the one she talked about the most. She really liked him. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they met him and had a bad story about it. And much like the late Jack LaLane, it seemed he was so healthy and in such great physical health and strength that he would live much longer. My dad was on all sorts of meds, in a wheelchair, and had heart and kidney failure among other problems and made it to 97. My mom avoided doctors and has dementia and metastatic cancer. She’s 90 and still going. My parents had crappy diets and only my dad exercised, and that was just a few days a week he took a few laps in the pool during the summer. Aside from that, he laid in bed watching TV, just like my mom. My mom was also a smoker for over 40 years. She quit, but still … And she was overweight, as was my dad.
