A horrific incident occurred at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday, December 14. Shots were fired at people who were attending the “Chanukah by the Sea” event, to celebrate the first day of Hanukkah. The world has been left shocked by this senseless act of violence.
Many celebrities have shared their thoughts and shown their solidarity for the Jewish community. Among those who have made a statement is musician Delta Goodrem.
Delta Goodrem Shows Solidarity
Goodrem, who is Australian, penned a lengthy statement which she posted on Instagram. “We are heartbroken by the horrific events at Bondi yesterday,” she wrote. “Our deepest thoughts are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones, and with all those who were injured. We stand in unwavering solidarity with the Jewish community in Australia and around the world at this time of profound grief.”
She continued, “Amid such darkness, the acts of courage, kindness, and humanity we have witnessed remind us that goodness endures, and that love will always rise to meet hate. We are profoundly grateful to the everyday Australians who stepped in, and to the police, lifeguards, paramedics, doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals who responded with extraordinary professionalism and care, and who continue to support and treat those affected by this tragedy.”
The shooting claimed the lives of 15 people, and 27 people have been hospitalised, CNN reports.

Goodrem’s fans have shown their support, flooding the comment section with their condolences and loving messages. “Praying for Bondi and sending everyone love and healing light,” a fan shared. “This is devastating,” another person wrote.
“It’s horrible what’s going on right now in the world,” a third fan shared. Other reactions include, “Sending my condolences,” “My heart is with Australia right now. Delta, I hope you and your team will find your smile today despite what happened.”
Joining Goodrem in the tributes to those affected by the shooting were “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancers Derek Hough, Sasha Farber, and Peta Murgatroyd. Murgatroyd, who is a fellow Australian native, reacted to the mass shooting on her Instagram Stories. “Woke up crying to this,” she wrote. “This never happens in Australia. This is horrific. We were the safe country. I guess not so much anymore. I’m thinking of all the families who lost their loved ones today.”
Murgatroyd shared two more posts on her Instagram Stories, showing her support for the Jewish community and stating that she stands by them.
