KISS Rocker Gene Simmons Hospitalized

KISS rocker Gene Simmons was hospitalized in Malibu on Tuesday, October 7, after he was involved in a car crash. He is now recovering at home.

According to NBC4 Los Angeles a crash was reported just before 1 p.m., in which Simmons’ Lincoln Navigator hit a parked car. Witnesses called 911. The KISS legend was “speaking with first responders, authorities said. He told deputies he passed out or fainted, then hit the parked car.”

A spokesperson for the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station confirmed to PEOPLE that the driver, who was Simmons, “was transported to the hospital by LA County Fire for further treatment.”

However, neither Simmons’ wife Shannon Tweed nor a rep for Simmons had responded to PEOPLE’s request for a comment.

In 2023, KISS took the stage together and said that it would be their final time. They announced the Farewell Tour, titled “One Last KISS, End of the Road,” during an appearance on “America’s Got Talent.”

“It has been an amazing journey with you all. We couldn’t leave without saying goodbye. This show will have the most explosions, the most hits and be the loudest yet!,” Simmons also posted on social media.

But the call to the stage was too hard to ignore.

KISS is set to perform a live show as part of the three-day KISS Army Storms Vegas event from Nov. 14-16 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. This will celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band, which was formed in January 1973, featuring guitarist Paul Stanley, Simmons, guitarist Ace Frehley, and drummer Peter Criss.

According to PEOPLE, the event will feature “Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and other special guests,” and include an “exclusive Q&A sessions with members of the band, a panel with longtime manager Doc McGhee, a special live performance from former KISS member Bruce Kulick, along with sets from KISS tribute bands, other special guests, interactive activities, exclusive experiences and more.”
