Mary J. Blige is one of the most beloved R&B singers of all time. In fact, she’s known as the Queen of Hip Hop Soul. Now, after more than 35 years in the entertainment industry, she’s releasing her first concert film, “For My Fans.” The film will document her sold-out Madison Square Garden performance from April 2025.
Blige announced the concert film on October 8. She said on Instagram, “This show was special to me, I’m so excited to share it with you.”
The “Family Affair” singer continued, “Tickets for Mary J. Blige: For My Fans are now on sale! Screening in cinemas November 5 & 8‼️ Grab your tickets before they’re gone at maryjbligefilm.com.”
The post itself includes footage of Blige from over the years. Some of it is captured in interviews, while other clips show her in the recording studio as well as on stage.
Blige Announced Her Latest Tour in 2024
Blige has been touring extensively over the last few years. According to Billboard, she announced her latest tour, the “For My Fans Tour,” in September 2024. She said in a statement at the time, “I am so excited to kick off this tour. I have amazing fans and am so grateful for all of the love and support they have given me throughout the years.”
She continued, “This tour is for them, and I cannot wait to be able to travel to all these cities and see everyone. I am in such a place of immense gratitude and peace at this moment, so also having the chance to release my new album Gratitude on Nov. 15 ahead of this tour is really special to me.”
Blige’s tour began in Greensboro, North Carolina, on January 30, 2025. The tour initially included 27 cities, but she later added more cities to the list due to high demand.
She Remains Busy Despite Decades in the Business
Blige’s “For My Fans Tour” concluded in April after having been extended with nine additional dates. However, she remains busy as she’s one of the headlining acts performing at ONE MusicFest in Atlanta, Georgia. According to Ticket Master, she’s set to perform on October 25 and 26.
To date, Blige has released 14 studio albums, with the latest being 2024’s “Gratidude.” She’s also an accomplished actor. She appeared in Starz’s “Power: Book II Ghost” for 40 episodes, as well as 10 episodes of Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy.”
