Maureen McCormick, famously known as Marcia Brady on “The Brady Bunch,” and for her time as a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars,” recently opened up about a sweet and innocent teenage romance with none other than pop icon Michael Jackson.
In a candid moment with Access Hollywood from years ago, she revealed she went on dates with Jackson and confessed, “I was just absolutely in love with him.”
“I thought he was the greatest star ever. I couldn’t even believe that here I am little Maureen McCormick from the Valley driving up to the Jackson 5 house and going inside and hanging out,” she said during the interview.
Her memories stretch back to when she was around 16 and Jackson was about 14 — a time when both were navigating early fame.
McCormick recalled that they met after Michael and his family became familiar with her show, and that she felt “in awe” of him.
“I thought he was the greatest thing in the world,” she recalled.
McCormick Has Fond Memories of Their Time Together
She even talked about driving up to the Jackson family’s house, spending time inside, and forming a genuine bond rooted in admiration.
One particularly vivid memory came from a date at an ice skating rink.
She remembered holding hands with Jackson as they glided around — a small but meaningful moment for her young heart.
In McCormick’s mind, the connection was more than friendship: “I was in love. I thought I was going to maybe be Mrs. Michael Jackson. Yeah, I definitely could have been. I would have loved it.”
Still, she wasn’t entirely at ease during their time together.
McCormick admitted that she felt watched in the Jackson household. The presence of Jackson’s parents made her feel like she didn’t quite belong, even though she deeply admired their son.
She later reflected that her own insecurities might have amplified those feelings, saying she “always kind of felt like I was being watched.”
McCormick Revealed Where the Two Met
Despite the age difference and the complications of fame, McCormick maintained that from her perspective, their relationship was very real.
Looking back in a 2016 interview, she clarified that while Jackson might not have defined their time together as “dates,” she absolutely did.
Their connection reportedly began at a lawyer’s office — “some attorney’s place,” McCormick said — where she and Jackson met among business dealings.
“We just became friends and admired each other. I think he loved ‘The Brady Bunch,’” she added.
Over the years, McCormick has revisited these memories with fondness, treating them not as a regret but as a beautiful, formative chapter in her life.
She noted that she is still in contact with some members of the Jackson family.
