Kevin Jonas Explains Why He’ll Never Join ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Kevin Jonas is setting the record straight on why viewers won’t see him competing for the Mirrorball trophy anytime soon. The Jonas Brothers singer opened up in a new interview with InStyle about repeatedly passing on “Dancing With the Stars,” despite being invited almost every season for two decades. According to Kevin, he appreciates the offer every time, but joining the ballroom simply “isn’t for me,” even though he still considers himself a “huge fan” of the ABC series.

Kevin said he and his family continue to watch the show regularly, noting that season 34 has been especially strong. While he won’t be putting on dance shoes himself, he has favorites in the competition. Nick Jonas is rooting for Robert Irwin, while Kevin is pulling for Dylan Efron. He also teased that fans may hear Jonas Brothers music during the semifinals and finale, hinting that one of their songs is expected to be used in the upcoming episodes.

Kevin Says the Ballroom Isn’t for Him but Watching Still Is

During the InStyle interview, Nick teased his brother about how often he gets asked to join the show, saying Kevin has been invited “pretty much every season for the last 20 years.” Kevin confirmed that the producers reach out often, but competing simply doesn’t feel like the right fit. Even so, he praised the cast and performers this year, adding that ‘Dancing With the Stars’ “is really back.”

Kevin’s focus right now is on family, music and acting projects, which he says keep his schedule full. That includes promoting the Jonas Brothers’ latest project, the holiday film “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie”, which features cameos from nearly the entire Jonas family. Kevin’s wife, Danielle Jonas, and their daughters Alena and Valentina appear in the movie, along with Nick’s wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas and their daughter Malti Marie. Kevin said having everyone together on set helped “set the tone” for the film and made the project feel meaningful from the start.

Inside the Jonas Brothers’ New Christmas Movie & Their Return to Disney

Alongside explaining why DWTS isn’t for him, Kevin Jonas also opened up about the Jonas Brothers’ new film “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie.” Nick Jonas told Deadline that the idea for a holiday movie first came up 15 years ago during their “Camp Rock” era, and the concept resurfaced while discussing “Camp Rock 3,” eventually leading Disney to green-light the project.

The film follows Nick, Kevin and Joe as fictional versions of themselves who get stranded in Europe before Christmas after an encounter with a Santa look-alike played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, forcing them to reconnect and work through old tensions to make it home.

The movie features cameos from Will Ferrell, Randall Park, Billie Lourd and KJ Apa, along with several Jonas family members. Joe also stars opposite Chloe Bennet, which led to an awkward first day on set when he filmed a kissing scene in front of his real family. The holiday film includes original music crafted with songwriter Justin Tranter and serves as a nostalgic return to the brothers’ Disney roots ahead of the upcoming “Camp Rock 3.”

“A Very Jonas Christmas Movie” is now streaming on Disney+.
