Social media is filled with loving tributes for legendary singer Neil Sedaka following the news of his passing on Friday, February 27. Among the celebrations of his life is one from Grammy Award-winning musician Carole Bayer Sager.
Carole Bayer Sager Celebrates Legend Neil Sedaka
Sager is a legend in the music industry, too, having won a Grammy for Song of the Year in 1987 for her track, “That’s What Friends Are For.” On February 27, she took to Instagram to share her sadness after learning Sedaka had passed. He was 86.
Sager posted a photo of the late musician, and in the caption, she wrote, “I am so saddened to learn about the passing of Neil Sedaka. When I was a young songwriter, he was kind enough to say he would write a song with me when I asked him at Screen Gems Music. We wrote two songs for the Monkees, and Neil had music pouring out of him. We wrote many others. He was So musical, so kind, so talented. I will miss him and always remember his kindness and gigantic talent..and great voice.. “
She ended her post by sharing her condolences to Sedaka’s loving wife, Leba, and the rest of their family. The comment section has been filled with supportive messages.

Neil Sedaka’s Family Shares Beautiful Statement
After the news of Sedaka’s death was reported by TMZ, his family made a heartbreaking and beautiful statement on Instagram. “Our family is devastated by the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Neil Sedaka,” the statement reads. “A true rock and roll legend, an inspiration to millions, but most importantly, at least to those of us who were lucky enough to know him, an incredible human being who will be deeply missed.”
No other details of Sedaka’s death were shared. He will be truly missed, not just by his family but by fans around the world, for his incredible contributions to the music industry. Some of his most popular songs include “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do,” “Oh! Carol,” “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,” and “Calendar Girl.” Sedaka loved to perform and continued to do so for as long as he could, even performing in his 80s, CNN reports.
