Singer and reality star Ray J, brother of R&B legend Brandy, recently participated in a much-talked-about boxing match against media personality Supa Hot Fire, who is also known as DeShawn Raw. Now, days later, it’s being reported that Ray J is in the hospital after experiencing a brutal knockout during the fight. This comes after the singer revealed a worrying heart condition in early 2026.
According to TMZ, Ray J checked himself into the hospital two hours after the May 23 match against Supa Hot Fire. Per the report, the “One Wish” singer has remained in the facility’s care as they continue to look after him and conduct various tests.
They are currently checking whether the “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” alum suffered a concussion. Additionally, his heart is said to be beating at a slower rate than normal.
The Ray J and Supa Hot Fire Boxing Match Was Live-Streamed
GettyThe much-talked-about boxing event between Ray J and Supa Hot Fire took place on May 23 at Adin Ross’ UFC Apex event in Las Vegas, according to PEOPLE. The highly publicized fight made it to the second round before Supa Hot Fire delivered the match-ending blow.
Based on footage posted to social media, the father of two seemed disoriented following the brutal hit. He could then be seen slumping down in the ring and falling to the floor. From there, he got up and sat down on a stool. The match was then called by the referee.
Later, following the fight, Ray J appeared for an interview while still in the boxing ring. In it, the reality star joked about the incident before discussing having lost money on the fight. However, despite him appearing light-hearted in the interview, many noticed that Ray J had sustained some sort of a knot on his head, seemingly from the final hit from Supa Hot Fire.
The ‘One Wish’ Singer Was Previously Hospitalized
Ray J was hospitalized in January 2026 after suffering from pneumonia and heart pain. After that, he took to social media to give an update on his health. At the time, the 45-year-old revealed that he had been told he may only have months left to live.
He said, “I was in a hospital. My heart’s only beating like 25 percent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right. My health is not okay, so I thank everybody for supporting and praying for me.”
After that, he stated, “2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” before revealing that his heart had turned black as a result of severe alcohol and drug use.
Brandy Recently Gave An Update On Her Relationship With Ray J
GettyBrandy and Ray J have always had a close relationship. However, in more recent years, there’s been a bit of a divide. This seemed to have changed when they reunited on stage during the Atlanta stop of her 2025 “The Boy Is Mine” arena tour with Monica.
However, in February 2026, while promoting her now New York Times bestselling memoir PHASES, the legendary songstress told Parade Magazine that there is distance between them due to some of his public antics.
Brandy told the outlet, “There is distance right now. There are a few things that he’s been doing in the public eye that I don’t condone, and I just feel like loving him from afar right now is best for me and my peace.”
She added, “But my life with Ray and my connection with him is all throughout the book, and my love for him never wavers.” Ray J was noticeably absent from Brandy’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in March.
