While Shakira‘s fans can enjoy the new music she’s released with Anitta — along with the visuals of the chainmail bikini-clad Colombian singer that go along with the song — she’s getting ready to perform at an epic event that will surely be one of the highlights of her career.
Shakira Looks Amazing While Promoting Her Historic Show
Shakira took to Instagram on Saturday, April 25, to share a post that showed her wearing casual jeans and… well… no shirt. Instead, the star held up a fan to cover her top section.
While her long, honey-colored hair streamed down her back in gorgeous waves, the first photo sees her holding up a pair of sunglasses to look at the camera and smile. In the second and third pics, her skin glows as she strikes a pair of poses.
In the caption, she wrote, “Almost there, Rio!!! Prepping so many surprises for you: guest artists, new wardrobe, songs you’ll love to hear… Can’t wait to be there… no altar do planeta!!”
For those who don’t speak Portuguese, the final part of the message translates to: “on the altar of the planet!!”
Shakira Will Perform at the ‘Biggest Show on the Planet’
Although Shakira’s fans around the world would surely be excited to see her take on a monumental concert in their home city, “[t]he ‘She Wolf’ is set to follow in the footsteps of Madonna and Lady Gaga for a historic performance on Rio’s sands,” according to LatiNation.
“With a legendary catalog and fluency in Portuguese, the Colombian superstar” — who, in the video above, calls the event “the biggest show on the planet” — “aims to shatter attendance records in a globally broadcasted night,” LatiNation tells readers. “As hotel bookings soar in Rio, the mystery surrounding the opening act and the massive logistics keep Gen Z and Millennial fans on high alert.”
If you haven’t heard, LatiNation explains that “Copacabana Beach will host an unprecedented display on May 2, 2026. On that date, the singer will [perform] at the ‘Todo Mundo no Rio’ festival.”
Noting that Shakira “shattered revenue records with her recent world tour,” LatiNation says that the festival “has turned Rio’s coast into the absolute epicenter of world pop. Therefore, Rio will welcome Shakira during her moment of greatest empowerment to meet her loyal audience.”
LatiNation also points out that the event is “[a] massive production in the heart of Brazil,” mentioning the fact that “the logistics of this free show aim to receive hundreds of thousands of people. In fact, the event is shaping up to be the most massive gathering of the decade.”
“The challenge for the singer is monumental due to the numbers from previous years; in the past, more than 1.6 million people attended the same beach,” LatiNation adds. “As a result, the production will be world-class. … Although the opening act remains a secret, the excitement grows every single day.”
“For the Latin community …, seeing Shakira on South America’s most imposing stage is a source of pride; it is a reminder of the cultural weight that Latinos have in the modern industry,” LatiNation claims. “In conclusion, Shakira in Copacabana is the definitive statement that the pop crown remains Latin.”
