Beloved Music Star Passes Away in Tragic Plane Crash & Hearts Are Breaking for His Family

Colombian music star Yeison Jimenez has passed away following a plane crash that claimed six lives, just hours before he was set to take the stage. As per a report in the US Sun, Jimenez, 34, was traveling with members of his team to a concert in Medellรญn when the aircraft went down shortly after takeoff and caught fire.


Authorities Confirm No Survivors in Fatal Plane Crash

Authorities later confirmed that no one on the board survived the devastating crash.

The crash occurred just after 4 p.m. local time on Saturday. Colombiaโ€™s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the deaths of the pilot, co-pilot, and four passengers, including Jimenez.

โ€œFollowing the arrival of emergency services and the National Police at the crash site, the deaths of all six occupants of the aircraft have been confirmed,โ€ the agency said in a statement, as published by US Sun. โ€œAmong the victims is the renowned popular music artist Yeison Jimenez.โ€

The plane belonged to Jimenezโ€™s company, YJ Company SAS.


Jimenez’s Final Hours Before the Flight

In the hours leading up to the flight, Jimenez and members of his team were photographed at a shop near the airport, where the singer happily posed for selfies with staff.

ABC7 reports that the team was en route to Medellรญn for a scheduled performance.

Before boarding the aircraft, Jimenez shared a poignant post on Instagram. “Always humble, because what God gives you he can also take away,โ€ he wrote, as reported by the US Sun.

Weisman Mora, his longtime photographer, shared a final video capturing the group together inside the plane as it taxied down the runway. He, too, was among the victims.

In addition to Jimenez and his photographer, the other victims of the crash were identified as pilot Hernando Torres, Juan Manuel Rodriguez, Oscar Marin, and Jefferson Osorio.


Jimenez began performing at just seven years old and later emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in Colombiaโ€™s โ€œmusica popular,โ€ a folk-influenced genre that traces its roots to the 1930s and 1940s.

Across his career, he released eight albums and penned more than 70 songs, leaving a lasting mark by helping the genre evolve for younger audiences.

In earlier interviews, Jimenez also spoke candidly about aviation.

As per the US Sun, during a podcast appearance, he shared that he had experienced recurring dreams about dying in a plane crash.


Family and Fans Mourn a Sudden Loss

Tributes poured in following the news of his death. Jimenezโ€™s stepdaughter, Camila Jimenez, whom he adopted after forming a family with his partner, Sonia Restrepo, shared a message on Instagram.

โ€œI love you dad. You donโ€™t know how much it hurts me to see your videos and for you not to be here,โ€ she wrote.

Fans echoed the grief online. One wrote, โ€œNever thought I’d see a post like this so soon. How does this all hurt, much comfort to his family, praying for you”.

Another fan wrote: “You will always be the best. R.I.P. A news that is hard to believe. It hurts too much. God of strength to families. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿงธ You leave a big void @yeison_jimenez ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ˜ญ”

A third one chimed in and wrote: “๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ญhow I wish this was a lie๐Ÿ’”what a great pain๐Ÿ˜ญa great one is gone๐Ÿ™Œmy favorite singer forever๐Ÿ•Š”

The regional government of Boyacรก also released a statement naming all six victims.

โ€œWe regret the tragic accident that claimed the life of the well-known singer Yeison Jimenez, one of the most representative figures of Colombian popular music,โ€ the statement read.

โ€œUnited in prayer we stand in solidarity.โ€

Jimenez is survived by his family, his children, and a devoted fan base that helped elevate him into one of Colombiaโ€™s most influential contemporary artists.
