BTS will return to the stage as a full group for the first time in nearly three years with a global livestream concert on Netflix, marking a major moment for both the band and the streaming platform as it expands further into live entertainment.
The concert, titled “BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG,” will stream live on March 21 from Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, Netflix announced. The performance comes one day after the release of the group’s fifth Korean studio album, “Arirang.” It follows the completion of mandatory military service by all seven members.
The livestream will be available to Netflix subscribers in more than 190 countries, according to the company. Making this one of the most widely distributed live music events ever hosted by a streaming service.
A Global Comeback After a Hiatus
BTS paused group activities in 2022 as members began fulfilling South Korea’s mandatory military service. While the group stepped back from collective performances, individual members released solo music and pursued independent projects. The final member completed service in mid-2025, clearing the way for a full reunion.
Netflix said the concert location was chosen for its cultural significance. Gwanghwamun Square sits in the heart of Seoul and serves as a symbolic public space tied closely to Korean history and national identity.
“This performance represents both a return and a new beginning,” Netflix said in a statement announcing the event.
The concert will feature songs from “Arirang” alongside select tracks from BTS’s catalog. The livestream is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. local time in South Korea. While the international audiences will be tuning in across multiple time zones.
Netflix Expands Its Live Strategy
The concert is part of a broader partnership between BTS and Netflix that also includes a feature-length documentary, “BTS: The Return,” set to premiere March 27. According to Netflix, the documentary will chronicle the group’s reunion, album preparation, and reflections on their time apart.
Industry analysts view the livestream as a strategic move for Netflix as competition among streaming platforms intensifies. By hosting a live global event tied to one of the most influential music acts in the world, Netflix positions itself beyond traditional on-demand programming.
Bloomberg reported that the livestream represents one of Netflix’s most ambitious live music efforts to date, signaling the platform’s interest in blending live events with documentary storytelling.
Following the concert and documentary release, BTS plans to embark on the “Arirang” world tour, which is expected to begin later this year and continue through 2027, according to announcements from the group’s management.
For BTS, the Netflix concert is not only a return to performing together, but a reintroduction on their own terms.
