Jennifer Lopez is back in her rom-com era, and the first look at her new Netflix film “Office Romance” just made June feel very far away.
Netflix released the first official photo from the film on April 13, showing Lopez alongside co-star Brett Goldstein in a flirtatious image that gives fans their first real taste of the movie’s chemistry. “Office Romance” begins streaming on Netflix on June 5, 2026.
Lopez plays Jackie Cruz, a powerful CEO whose strict no-fraternization policy starts to unravel when charming new employee Daniel Blanchflower, played by Goldstein, enters the picture. Netflix’s Tudum describes the film as a raunchy romantic comedy about a secret office romance and the trouble two workaholics get into when they start thinking with their hearts.
The Rom-Com J.Lo Fans Have Been Waiting For
One of the most irresistible details about “Office Romance” is that Brett Goldstein and Joe Kelly wrote it specifically for Lopez. Goldstein told People that he and Kelly came up with the idea during a long train journey while working on “Ted Lasso,” after asking themselves who the best rom-com star working today was. His answer came fast: Lopez. “She’s the best at this stuff,” he said.
Lopez returned the compliment, saying Goldstein brought “an amazing calming and self-assured energy” to the set and that his comedic instincts felt completely natural on screen. Goldstein also joked that every day on set felt surreal, like someone might jump out and tell him he was being pranked.
Ol Parker directs the film. His recent credits include “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” and “Ticket to Paradise,” and he says Lopez and Goldstein made him laugh from their first lunch together. Parker also said the movie pushes the envelope a bit more than audiences might expect from a Jennifer Lopez rom-com.
What the First Look Confirms About ‘Office Romance’
The first image finally gives the movie a visual identity after months of anticipation.
The supporting cast only adds to the appeal. Betty Gilpin, Tony Hale, Amy Sedaris and Edward James Olmos all appear in the film. The detail that will hit longtime Lopez fans right in the feelings is Olmos reuniting with her onscreen nearly 30 years after he played her father in “Selena.”
Lopez has leaned fully into the rollout. On April 10, she told fans on Instagram that with “Office Romance,” she was back in her “RomCom era,” a line that only made anticipation around the film louder ahead of this first-look reveal.
“Office Romance” marks Lopez’s next major Netflix movie after “The Mother” and “Atlas,” and the first official image suggests this one is aiming squarely at the kind of glossy, funny, star-driven romantic comedy fans have wanted from her for years.
June 5 cannot come soon enough.
