Jennifer Lopez may be one of Hollywood’s most experienced romantic comedy stars, but she says filming kissing scenes still gives her nerves.
The actress and singer opened up about the awkwardness of on-screen romance while attending the May 26 premiere of her upcoming Netflix film “Office Romance” alongside co-star Brett Goldstein. Speaking to People at the Hollywood event, Lopez admitted that intimate scenes never completely lose their uncomfortable factor, even after decades in the business.
“I’ve been doing this a long time,” Lopez said. “I want to say that I was fine, but it’s always a thing. It’s like, ‘Okay, I have to kiss this person that I don’t know and I’m just getting to know you.’ You get a little nervous, that’s all.”
Goldstein, who stars opposite Lopez in the upcoming rom-com, agreed that filming those scenes can feel intimidating, especially with cameras and a full production crew surrounding you. However, the “Ted Lasso” actor joked that the best way to handle it is to simply “go for it.”
The pair’s chemistry has already become a talking point while promoting the movie. At the premiere, Goldstein told Entertainment Tonight he would rate kissing Lopez “12 out of 10,” which reportedly left the actress smiling on the red carpet.
Things became even more playful when Goldstein reacted to hearing Lopez had previously called him the “best kisser” she had worked with. Laughing about the compliment, Goldstein said it was “better than winning an Emmy.”
Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein Built Easy Chemistry on Set

In “Office Romance,” Lopez stars as Jackie Cruz, a high-powered CEO who develops feelings for Daniel Blanchflower, a newly hired employee played by Goldstein. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film follows the pair as they break workplace rules and pursue a secret romance that begins complicating both of their professional lives.
The movie is directed by Ol Parker and has been described as a “raunchy” workplace rom-com. The cast also includes Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford and Edward James Olmos, who reunites with Lopez nearly 30 years after playing her father in “Selena.”

While promoting the film earlier this month at Netflix Upfronts, Lopez admitted she was surprised by Goldstein’s real-life personality after becoming a fan of his tough-talking Roy Kent character on “Ted Lasso.”
“I expected more of a rough guy,” Lopez said, describing Goldstein instead as “kind,” “gentle,” “soft-spoken” and “sweet.”
“Roy Kent, that’s one of my favorite characters,” she added.
Goldstein has also made it clear Lopez was always the dream choice for the movie. According to previous interviews, he and co-writer Joe Kelly came up with the concept for “Office Romance” while traveling together during “Ted Lasso” season three production and immediately agreed Lopez was the perfect rom-com lead.
“We started asking ourselves who the best rom-com star is, and without hesitation, we both said JLo,” Goldstein previously shared.
Lopez Previously Called Goldstein Her ‘Best Kisser’
This is not the first time Lopez has publicly praised her co-star. During an October 2025 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Lopez was asked to name her favorite on-screen kiss among several famous former co-stars, including George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, Richard Gere and Owen Wilson.
Instead, Lopez chose Goldstein.
“I just did a movie with Brett Goldstein and I’d say he was the best kisser,” she said at the time, per People.
Lopez also shared her excitement for the project back when the casting was first announced in 2024, posting on Instagram, “This is going to be fun!!!”
“Office Romance” begins streaming June 5 on Netflix.
