Though Larter is best known for her work on screen, the actress keeps her family life mostly private. This summer, however, she treated fans to snapshots of her children while traveling abroad.

Larter rose to fame in Hollywood as a scream queen, but at home, she is simply mom. โItโs figuring out that balance and somehow trying to find some time for your husband and for work โ and for yourself,โ she told People in 2015 about adjusting to motherhood after welcoming her second child.
Ali & Hayes MacArthurโs Love Story & Family Life
The actress met her husband, actor Hayes MacArthur, while working on National Lampoonโs Stoned Age in the early 2000s. Sparks flew quickly, with Larter later admitting to Cosmopolitan (As quoted by People) that she told him within three weeks she wanted to marry him. The couple wed in 2009 and welcomed Theodore in December 2010, followed by Vivienne in January 2015.
Moving to Idaho & Balancing Career With Parenthood
In 2020, Larter and MacArthur decided to move their children from Los Angeles to Sun Valley, Idaho, in search of a quieter lifestyle.
By 2024, the actress was splitting her time between Idaho and Texas while filming her Paramount+ drama Landman, in which she plays Angela Norris, a mother of two.
Reflecting on her differences from her on-screen character, Larter told Schรถn! magazine in 2025, โWeโre complete opposites when it comes to motherhood. Angelaโs approach is endearing because sheโs trying, but itโs so far from the way I parent. For me, it was about trusting the process and embracing this very different perspective on motherhood.โ
