What Happened to Jesús Montero?

Montero’s accident was reported by The Seattle Times on October 7. The publication reported that Montero had been involved in a motorcycle crash in his home country, Venezuela. He was hit by a truck and taken to a hospital in Valencia, TMZ reports.
“According to sources close to the incident who have informed me, the driver was under the influence of alcohol and collided with a motorcycle,” local reporter Tony Rodriguez shared on X in a post that has been translated to English, Newsweek reports. “They also confirm that he is intubated at trauma shock due to a lack of space in the intensive care unit of the Ciudad Hospitalaria Enrique Tejera.”
Montero relocated from Venezuela when he was a teenager and was signed by the New York Yankees at 16, Newsweek reports. He was traded to the Seattle Mariners in 2012. The last team he played for was a local baseball team, Águilas del Zulia, TMZ reports.
