Camron Guthrie Shares Powerful Statement to Mom Nancy Guthrie’s Captor: ‘We Need You to Reach Out’

Camron Guthrie made a statement via video on his sister Savannah Guthrie’s Instagram account on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 5, asking whoever has his beloved 84-year-old mom, Nancy Guthrie, captive to provide a way to communicate with him and their family.

Camron Guthrie Makes Statement

“This is Camron Guthrie; I’m speaking for the Guthrie family. Whoever is out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you,” Camron said. “We haven’t heard anything directly. We need you to reach out, and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward. But first, we have to know that you have our mom. We want to talk to you, and we are waiting for contact.”

Earlier that same day, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos held a live press conference, where he addressed a ransom note received by TMZ and several other news outlets.

Nanos confirmed that within the ransom demand, the sender gave a deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 5 to comply. Camron’s video was shared right at that deadline in MST, as he and his family desperately wait for proof of life in Tucson, Ariz. Nanos also shared during the press conference that a second deadline was given for Monday, Feb. 9.

This is the first official statement Camron has made on behalf of his mom, who was reported missing on Feb. 1 — just five days ago.

$50,000 Reward for Nancy Guthrie’s Return

During Thursday’s live press conference, Sheriff Nanos confirmed that no prime suspect had been identified. He noted that on the day Nancy was reported missing, her home’s Ring camera detected motion at 2:12 a.m. However, he stated that investigators did not see a person in the surveillance video. Just minutes later at 2:28 a.m., Nancy’s pacemaker app was disconnected from her phone.

Although the FBI is now offering a $50,000 reward for any significant leads that can direct authorities to Nancy, Nanos said that it will be Savannah and her family’s choice if they want to comply with the demands of the ransom letter, which asked for millions of dollars in Bitcoin, TMZ reported.

Savannah Guthrie’s Plea to Mom Nancy Guthrie’s Captor

Just one day before Camron made his statement to his mom’s captor, Savannah also addressed whoever has his mom hostage in a powerful plea. “She has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses,” she said in an Instagram video as she bargained for proof of life. “She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her, and you’ll see.”

Despite alarming evidence from Nancy’s home in Catalina Foothills, including blood spatter on her front porch, Sheriff Nanos made it clear during the press conference on Thursday that he and investigators do believe Nancy is alive. He also stated that investigators have contacted local pharmacies to determine if a prescription for Nancy’s medications has been placed, as he believes she was taken from her home without her necessary medications. Nanos previously stated during a Monday, Feb. 2 press conference that if Nancy goes without her prescriptions for more than 24 hours, the results could be “fatal.”

The public is encouraged to call the FBI with any leads at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at 88crime.org.

  1. So heartbreaking. The whole country is praying for your family.
It it very relatable as everyone has it had an aging parent who lives alone. The one thing I stress to my family and elder neighbors DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR TO ANYONE YOU DONT KNOW.
