Beloved “Home Alone” star Catherine O’Hara has been laid to rest after passing away at 71 on January 30, 2026. Her cause of death was a pulmonary embolism linked to cancer.

One of O’Hara’s friends, “Curly Sue” star Kelly Lynch, shared a photo of the program for the memorial, which took place on February 14 at St. Martin of Tours church in Los Angeles. The program features a cute photo of O’Hara as a child, smiling in a sweater and a plaid miniskirt.

Lynch accompanied her post with an emotional message, writing, “Rest in peace darling Catherine.” She then quoted the lines from a Raymond Carver poem: “And did you get what you wanted form this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.”

Selma Blair replied in the comments to fondly remember O’Hara. The “Cruel Intentions” actress wrote, “I never knew this wonder of laughter and comfort. But my! Did I enjoy her. I am so sorry for your loss. We will all miss her.”

“One Tree Hill” actress Hilarie Burton also reacted, leaving a string of heart emojis.

Page Six says the late star’s funeral was a private affair attended by her “closest friends and family.” It was held two weeks after her death. TMZ reported they learned from O’Hara’s death certificate that she was cremated, and her husband, Bo Welch, received her remains.

O’Hara’s final public appearance was the 2025 Angel Awards in October. The month before that, she was seen at the Toronto International Film Festival.

She told presenter Eugene Levy in her acceptance speech, “When I think of my happiest days in this adventure in show business, I realize most of them have been with you. Thank you, Eugene.” Levy and O’Hara had a long collaborative friendship, and played husband and wife in projects including “Schitt’s Creek” and “Best In Show.”

People says the actor gave them a statement on O’Hara’s death which read in part, “Words seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today. I had the honor of knowing and working with the great Catherine O’Hara for over fifty years.”

O’Hara then marveled at her trophy and reflected on her earlier days in the industry, saying, “Thank you Toronto International Film Festival. The festival of festivals. From trying to weasel my way into the parties of yours 50 years ago, to this!? Thank you! Thank you very much.” At the time of her speech, almost no one knew she was privately fighting cancer.
