Catherine O’Hara Reflected On Her Role In The Hit Movie ‘Home Alone’
O’Hara had numerous legendary roles over the course of her career, but one of the most notable is when she played the mother in “Home Alone.
“I used to mostly get people named Kevin who’d come up to me and ask me to yell ‘Kevin!’ in their faces,” O’Hara told PEOPLE in a 2020 interview. “Now it’s mostly about Moira and Schitt’s Creek. I’ve never gotten this kind of attention in my life. It’s crazy.”
Her role in Schitt’s Creek is also up there with her most well-known, as she played Moira Rose.
“I will forever be grateful to Eugene and Daniel Levy for the opportunity to play a woman of a certain age, my age, who gets to fully be herself,” she recalled during her speech when she won an Emmy for the role in 2020.
The Family Catherine O’Hara Leaves Behind
GettyShe is survived by her husband, Bo Welch, with the two having married in 1992. In 1994, they welcomed their first son, Matthew, and went on to have their second son, Luke, in 1997. They have both followed in their parents’ footsteps, as Welch is an Emmy-nominated production designer, having worked on set design for a few projects, PEOPLE reports.
Additionally, in an interview with PEOPLE in 2024, she opened up about why her marriage is such a success.
“People always say, ‘Communicate,’ right? ‘Tell them how you’re feeling.’ We do a lot of it with jokes,” she said. “We’ll make fun of each other instead of yelling at each other. Sarcasm helps!”
