Since announcing that she’d been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, Christina Applegate has been nothing but forthright and honest about the disease. Along with actress and friend Jamie-Lynn Sigler, she even started a podcast, “MeSsy,” where the two talk about the disease and life in general.
One topic Applegate has been most sensitive about is the toll MS has taken on her life and relationship with her daughter, Sadie. Recently, the “Married With Children” star admitted that, no matter how much pain she’s in, there’s one aspect of their relationship she won’t give up.
Beloved Star Refuses to Give Up Driving Her Daughter Despite MS Pain
In a recent interview with People, Applegate admitted that, because of the pain she’s in most of the time, she spends much of her days in bed. Sadie, on the other hand, is a busy teenager who needs to be driven to school and whatever other activities she has. Despite her discomfort, this is one thing Applegate will drag herself out of bed for.
“I want to take her; it’s my favorite thing to do,” the “Dead to Me” star admitted. “It’s the only time we have together by ourselves. I tell myself, ‘Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.’ And that’s what I do.”
In a June 2024 episode of “MeSsy,” Sadie revealed what has been the most difficult part of her mom’s MS struggle.
“It was hard watching my mom going from this person who could get up and dance,” Sadie said. “Every night, I remember, when I was a kid, we would dance and everything, in her room for hours at a time. When I was, I don’t know, seven or something like that.”
“It’s definitely hard seeing my mom struggle with this, and it’s just really difficult seeing her go through this,” she added.

Both Applegate and Sadie have discussed how much things have changed since her diagnosis. Dancing together, which Sadie mentioned, has also been something Applegate has said she misses doing with her daughter. Previously, Applegate told People that, if she’s lying on her side in bed, Sadie knows that “she can’t ask me to do anything.”
“It’s heartbreaking when you have to say to your kid, ‘I can’t.’ It’s like the worst feeling in the world as a mother,” Applegate added. “You’re their protector in life. When you have to say, ‘I can’t,’ it rips your soul apart. I freak out about it every day.”

Wonder if there are new or upcoming treatments for MS? Her doctor will alert her to clinical trials. Also wonder sbout behavioral therapy? Some autoimmune diseases can be helped with behavioral approaches.
The treatments or therapies are nothing more then to help ‘prolong’ the progression of the disease!..
as for the symptoms she would have to find out what works for her as far as medicine goes, or find what works for your individually such as PT ..
everyone responds different to the treatments and the meds or other treatments that is available.
It’s not a ‘cut n dry’ situation for most having this awful disease!.
Rheumatoid Arthritis was once a powerful, painful, life destroying, auto immune disease. Humira changed that for MANY. Prayers something similar comes along for MS.
