“Crime 101” is one of several new movies arriving to theathers in February 2026. The highly anticipated movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Monica Barbaro, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo. Ahead of its release, movie reviews are beginning to appear, and critics agree it’s a solid film.
“Crime 101” was directed by Bart Layton. Amazon MGM is releasing the new movie in theaters on February 13, ahead of its eventual Prime Video streaming date.
‘Crime 101’ Starring Chris Hemsworth Has Solid Movie Reviews
The review embargo for “Crime 101” was lifted on February 11. So far, critics are loving the film, which has debuted with a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is based on 24 reviews at the time of writing. It’s worth noting that Rotten Tomatoes scores tend to drop as more critics review.
One critic, Joshua Mbonu, said of “Crime 101,” “A good old-fashioned crime thriller with the heist, character exchanges, and chase sequences to match, and it rules.”
Another one, Frank Scheck from The Hollywood Reporter, wrote, “Crime 101 feels too contrived and artificial to be convincing. But there’s plenty to appreciate along the way, especially the extensive cinematic craftsmanship that’s gone into it.”
Owen Gleiberman from Variety stated, “Taken as a thriller, ‘Crime 101’ has its indulgences, but by the end it can stand as an advanced course in what underworld dreams are made of.”
Finally, Jonathan Romney from Financial Times said, “The film is manifestly aware of its ancestors, among them the Michael Mann canon, Walter Hill’s The Driver, and the Steve McQueen titles that are prominently namechecked. That’s some calibre; Crime 101 pretty compellingly measures up to it.”
