Details regarding the passing of “Scary Movie” star Jayne Trcka have emerged, shedding light on her cause of death on December 12, 2025.
TMZ reported on Wednesday, Feb. 11, that the San Diego County Medical Examiner listed the bodybuilder’s cause of death as hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease complicated by left femoral fracture. She was 62 years old.
The medical examiner also cited chronic alcohol as a contributing factor in her death, which has been ruled an accident.
What Is Hypertensive & Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease?
According to the Cleveland Clinic, atherosclerosis is caused by “a hardening of your arteries from plaque building up gradually inside them,” adding that the “plaque buildup limits blood flow.”
Cleveland Clinic suggests that symptoms don’t usually arise “until you have complications like a heart attack or stroke.” The medical site also described hypertensive heart as “long-term, unmanaged high blood pressure,” resulting in the heart working even harder to function.
When Trcka’s death was announced in January, it was revealed that she was found unresponsive in her kitchen in San Diego, California, TMZ reported. At the time, Trcka had not answered her phone when a friend repeatedly called her over the course of several days. The friend then went to her house, finding her unresponsive. When first responders arrived, they pronounced Trcka dead at the scene.
After her death, Trcka’s son told TMZ that he was unaware if there were any underlying medical problems that his mom could have been suffering from.
