Henry Cavill Shares a Photo of His ‘Highlander’ Injury

Henry Cavill suffered an accident while preparing for his role in Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists new “Highlander” reboot. Serious enough to delay production until 2026, we weren’t sure of the extent of the problem until now. Indeed, the star has shared a photo of his injured leg and it doesn’t look good.

Cavill took to Instagram on Friday, September 19, to first share a pic of himself and his pup. The two appear to be chilling together while Cavill — who has medium-length hair, surely for his role — slightly smiles at the camera.

It’s in the second photo that Cavill shared that gives his followers a glimpse at his injury. Showing his left leg propped up on a special pillow that’s curved to provide support, the actor’s knee is severely bruised. That’s not to mention the fact that his foot is wrapped up from just above his ankle to his toes.

In the caption of his Instagram post, Cavill opted to share the poem “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley.

Cavill wrote:

“Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.”

Fans Were Quick to Support Cavill

Cavill may be out of action for now, however, his fans were quick to step up with their support. Plenty left “get well soon” and “wishing you a speedy recovery” comments, while others went a little further.

“The most poetic injury announcement ever. Heal up fast! 💪🏻,” one fan wrote. Another left a comment referring to the star’s dog, saying, “injuries aren’t fun, but at least you have company (even if you can’t understand a word they say).”

“Thank you for the update Henry, everyone has been worried about your injury,” someone else wrote.

A fan who’s clearly excited about Cavill’s next project took to Instagram to write, “I hope he gets better soon, because I’m looking forward to the Highlander movie. 🔥🔥🔥”
