A powerful storm has upended life across Hawaii, forcing thousands to flee as floodwaters rose and swept through communities. Hollywood star Jason Momoa is speaking out after being forced to leave his home in Hawaii as dangerous flooding swept across the islands.
The Daily Mail reported on March 21 that the actor was among thousands who had to evacuate as the storm intensified, and he revealed on Instagram that he left the North Shore with his family after losing power.

He also shared footage of rising floodwaters near his father’s home, calling the situation “crazy” and urging people to take precautions and stay safe.
Momoa, who was born in Honolulu, also spoke about the emotional toll the storms have taken on local communities.
“The storms, the flooding, the constant rain across Oahu have affected so many of our people, especially those already facing hardship,” he said, as per The Daily Mail.
“Seeing families displaced, communities struggling, and our unhoused neighbors hit the hardest…”
He urged residents to support one another during the crisis, emphasizing the importance of community.
“That’s what aloha is,” Momoa wrote. “It’s showing up for each other when it matters most.”
The severe weather also forced him to cancel a planned music event over the weekend.
Historic Flooding Across Oahu Forces Mass Evacuations
The terrifying storm has brought widespread devastation across Hawaii, with flooding at levels not seen in more than 20 years.
CBS reported that officials have urged more than 5,000 residents to evacuate areas near the Wahiawa dam, warning that the aging structure faces a risk of “imminent failure.”
According to an NBC report, in under 24 hours, water levels rose sharply from 79 feet to 84 feet, leaving the reservoir just six feet from capacity. Parts of Oahu have been hit with up to 12 inches of rain.
Communities including Haleiwa and Waialua have been among the hardest impacted, with floodwaters, landslides, and fallen trees cutting off roads and making it difficult for residents to move safely.
Power Outages and Dangerous Conditions Impact Thousands
The storm has also knocked out power for thousands, including large parts of the North Shore, where Momoa had been staying.
Local reports stated that as of Saturday, about 6,400 customers across Oahu were without electricity, with nearly 4,200 outages concentrated on the North Shore.
Emergency alerts warned that conditions could worsen, with more heavy rain expected to hit already saturated communities.
Officials said all roads out of Waialua were at risk and urged anyone still in the area to evacuate before the situation deteriorates further.
Hawaii Governor Josh Green warned that the situation remains serious as the storm continues to impact communities across the state.
“This is a major threat to our people and to our state,” Green said, as per Maui Now.
Authorities reported that more than 230 people have been safely rescued so far, with no fatalities confirmed. Several individuals have sustained serious injuries, and around 10 people have been treated for hypothermia.
More than 130 residents were moved into evacuation shelters overnight as crews worked to respond to rapidly changing conditions. Federal teams are also on the ground, monitoring the situation closely.
“Our teams on the island are embedded and ready to support if needed to help safeguard lives and communities,” FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) wrote on Facebook.
The storm marks the second major weather system to hit Hawaii in recent weeks, adding to the strain on communities already dealing with repeated severe conditions.
